I have to drag a little port tab most of the time to keep my boat level but on faster runs I run a little positive trim and as the trim goes up it compensates for the prop torque and I can raise the tab along with the drive. I drag no tab on top end runs. It seems that reversing prop rotation on a single vee would reverse this effect causing a dangerous and undesirable condition. That is, increased list to port with positive trim.

Sound dangerous using tabs like that. Its been so long since ive had the hatch open I dont remember were my batteries are any more they been moved so much. Left drive right drive just dont remember. I think now with the right hand drive both batteries on the drivers side the boat leans when parked but up and running its level. the 24,s and 30,s are very narrow, trimmed up and flying even narrower ! Ive always wanted to move the batteries all the way to the transom to make the nose liter. Some day .

I finally got around to trying a lefty. I got a LH 26P Maximus from BBlades test program.
I immediately noticed a difference. With the RH even when I arranged gear and passengers I still had to run some left tab. Now, no more tab needed. I don't think the tab was slowing me down, it was just annoying to me. I am going to send the prop back to bblades and get it tweaked a bit. I was getting 4950 rpms with 2/3 fuel, 2 adults, 2 kids. Brett said that he could probably get me another 300 rpms out of it. That should put me right where I want to be. I should be real close to the rev limiter with a light load. Here where my results...... rpm speed 3200 48 3500 51 3600 54 3800 57 4000 60 4200 61 ??? 4400 63 4600 67 4800 70 4950 73 I'm hoping for 5300 / 78. I did run 80.1 last season with a bravo 1 prop but the mid range doesn't compare to the Maximus. |
Dave M... did you just run your existing drive in reverse for this test?

180 hrs. I'm going to run the prop when I get it back and then change my gear oil and look for any metal. From what I've been told, it's not big deal. I was nervous at first but once i got on plane and rode around for a while I forgot all about it.
