Wireless Trim In Wheel
I'm looking at wireless trim in the steering wheel for K-planes and drive up/down, I think a must for any sitdown boat. A 12 V transmitter in wheel hub will do it. About $379 new steering wheel and remote buttons on wheel spokes. What do you guys think ????

Re: Wireless Trim In Wheel
For what it's worth I have trim on the wheel {Not wireless} I liked it better on the throttles. My hand never seems to be in the right place {3 spokes} when i need it...

Re: Wireless Trim In Wheel
Birdog, it's not so much the drive trim ( on throttle ) but more the trim tab's switches are in an so/so spot ( hard to reach ). What do you Y2K guys think ???

Re: Wireless Trim In Wheel
Gary, I know you've always said you didn't care for the location of the K-plane switches. I concure with birddog with the switches on the steering wheel never being in a set location. My steering wheel isnt always in the same place with the hydrolic set up, thats why I went with the 3 evenly spaced spokes on mine. I can only amagine having to try to figure out left and right switches when the steering wheel not centered

Re: Wireless Trim In Wheel
Gary, I'm sure your K-plane switches are in the same place as mine ???? You don't feel in an a aggressive driving situation it is awkward to get to the switches ????

Re: Wireless Trim In Wheel
Gary, I was looking at a set up where the trim was in the throttle then another billet piece went on the throttle for the k-plane switches... pute the switches in front of the throttle lever so when you rest your hand on top the switches are at your finger tips. Think Livorsi makes them, I'll try and get the part number if it helps.

Re: Wireless Trim In Wheel
Gary,
With the hydraulic steering, The wheel is always in different places. While driving, one second the switches are on the left, next their on the right, then on the top, then on the bottom. Know what I'm saying ? My buddy has them on his allison ( 21' ) with cable steering. works great with them. Wheel is always in the same spot. Rick |
Re: Wireless Trim In Wheel
so it's a no with my steering system ????

Re: Wireless Trim In Wheel
I'd say so

Re: Wireless Trim In Wheel

Re: Wireless Trim In Wheel
Gary, I've also been looking at these, and I have already decided to add a new wheel with tab buttons. The current location is just no good when you are in 3+ seas at 70 mph and bouncing along trying to reach over or under the throttle and the other switches. I often open my hatch during these conditions because my forearm hits the hatch switch while pressing the tab buttons - not a good situation. This is also the reason Rick and JC modified the hatch to have a glassed in support for the engine cover lift - I pulled the bolts right through the engine cover without knowing it by pressing the down button on the hatch! I think I'll replace my hatch one day when I repower, hoping JC will give me a great deal on that one......ya know, for the design input????? :)

Re: Wireless Trim In Wheel
Keith, so you know exactly what I mean. Let me know if you change over before me ( with superbabi done for big chill ) how you like it !!! I'm sure JC will give you a deal on the rear hatch..............After all you and Rick got the whole superboat builds going strong...............Krackmeup and FX-10 are the reason we did the Superbabi build !!!!!!

Lets Try To Figure A Way To Make It Easier For You To Drive. The Wireless In The Wheel Is junk Like every Body Says Never Is In The Same Spot. They Make A Piece That Goes On The Throttle With Two Buttons I Could rig Up To Work The Tabs That would Work . You Have The Button For The Drive In The Handle This Way Just Move Your Thumb To The other Buttons What Do you think???????? HAPPY TURKEY DAY

Re: Wireless Trim In Wheel
I think lightspeeds idea is the way to go with all switches in one spot if your looking to relocate them.

Re: Wireless Trim In Wheel
I'm liking it!! Keep talking John - I can rig the switches, but what piece are you seeing that mounts on the throttle? Who makes it? I'll take a look around for that as well, good idea....
