2 Attachment(s)
I have 4 6" round speakers. Two in the front, two in the back. They sound OK. I don't use my stereo that much. I need to replace them this winter. They have given up to the relentless rough water poundings! :D

I mounted mine about the same, just a bit higher. Make sure you buy the plastic cone speakers because they are going to get wet...

Dave,

How did you gain access to front speakers to nut them or did you use nut clips? I like the locations.

Re: Speakers

They were in the boat when I bought it. I know you can access the rear speakers from the engine compartment. You may have to take out the back seat which is not that hard to do. The front must be using nut clips. You MIGHT be able to access the front by removing the side vents. If you mount them higher like Patrick said, that would improve your chances of accessing from the side vents. Make sure the speakers you buy are not too thick. There is only a few inches of clearance in there.

If you mount them higher, there is more clearance to the hull. But don't go too high, there is a tube glassed in that holds the cables leading back from the helm.
Pull the back seat out, it will make your life much easier.

Re: Speakers

Was thinking about mounting 8" Pioneer Nauitca Speakers. Do you guys think there will be enough depth clearance on the sides from the liner to the hull or should I plan mounting them under the rear seat (enough room there too?) and above the cutout under the helm/infront of the passenger? Head unit will be mounted just like Bash's (great place Bash thanks for the idea) then doing a wired remote with readout on the dash.

Re: Speakers

If the 8" speakers are deaper than 6", I'd say you will have clearance issues...
Don't mount them under the back seat, they will get kicked.
The bulkhead to the cabin is an option, but I think the sides are an easier install...
Mounting the stereo in the cabin with a wired remote is a great idea.

Thought about that....thought that if I mount them more toward the sides of the back seat then they might not but I think it is just one of things I am going to have to sit and think about when I am near the boat in the spring. Anyone mount speakers in the bulkhead? Good/Bad? I know there already is a lot going on under the helm as it is.
