Y2K handling
 

I starting to become interested in the 30 superboats. I was wondering how the Y2K handle's the ruffer water, say a typical day on long island sound and the start of a poker run??

I can't relate to the Long Island waters, but mine has handled anything I have thrown at it with ease so far. (Havasu washing machine, Pacific ocean). I will say in Havasu it will toss you around a bit more than a cat of same size. But never makes you feel uneasy. I think John built the hull for the nasty water you live in.

To get an impartial answer ask Fast Eddie. I remember him telling me he went on a run where 90% of the boats turned back , BIG WATER, and he ran with some 35 and 40 footers at over 75 without a problem. Not to say its all boat , Eddie is an exceptional driver as is JC himself.

I also remember 1 year at the GLENCOVE POKER RUN a few boats sank and most turned back the water was so big. Only a few boats made it to the first stop and JC was one of them.

Galveston Bay is very similar to the LI area, a large bay with an average depth of 8-11'. Winds whip up and create very "confused" seas, making it rather unpleasant at times for anyone. I can tell you I continuously boat more now, and often pass other hulls coming back in and I'm smiling in quiet content knowing the Y2K will do better. She especially likes to "get on top" of the sloppy stuff, as you drive through it - the real testimony is my wife, who usually is a little shy of speed - now in the Y2K she taps me on the shoulder, and says - you need to go faster and it will be better!!! Yes, dear :)

I have a 38 hustler with whippled 500's. I am looking to down size to a more trailerable as well as reliable boat and the superboats seem like they would fit that very well. Now the only problem is that I have to sell the Hustler first.

Dan as the Y2K owners say, the boat runs great in the SLOP. I enjoy mine much more in a 2'3' chop than flat calm !!!! Good luck on the selling of your boat, I know sometimes with performance boats they can be hard to sell. :D

I have not made it into the sound yet, but I was in Gardiner's Bay where it can get pretty nasty. I got my best top speed there in 3-5 footers.....81 mph. 3 footers felt like ripples, and the 5 footers were a little more than a bump!!

I was at the Glen cove poker run a few years back and saw what Zuperboat was talking about. 6 to 8 footers with some 10 footers thrown in. Did I mention it was also raining !!! I think the Coneheads came in 6th behind some much bigger boats. JC was right on their asses. It was awesome watching him drive through that water. I think he even got a video of it from a guy doing ariel video.
I was a spectator in a 29' Intimidator. Tried to catch Coen, but ***etaboutit !!! He was gone !!
