Re: Rob, Huntington Beach !!

Rick, I was thinking... whats the capacity of the gas tank, I wanna guesstimate the range of the boat with twins? Also what are the odds of getting some dimensions for the engine compartment, cockpit, transom width. Need to start mocking up the motors and drives someday to make sure they fit when we send them to you. If these are more John questions let me know and I'll call him.

Thanks,
Rob

One more for ya.. how about a sick twin intake hatch w/ the opening facing toward the rear. And have the scoops staggered like the engines?

Hypothetically... what class would this boat race in?

I think it would depend how fast you want to run.
I believe Jcap ran in P-3, Fasteddie F-1.
The rules seem to change from year to year...

Well Rob,
Being that I'm a design engineer, I asked Rick a number of about how the stringers will be laid out and how the "staggered" engines will mount.
There will be a large stringer running down the center and the engines will mount off set over the center stringer toward the center of the boat. One engine will mount forward allowing for the drives to move closer inboard.
Just like those $1,000,000 full stagger 42' "Poker Run/Race" boats... :D
There is of course more to the new design then my typing skills will allow me to describe. John and Rick are old school, lots of sketches on cocktail napkins, but you are in good hands... :drink:

I See A Mock Setup In The Near Future. This Is Going To Have To Happen Before The Tank Goes In. I Like The I.t.s. Idea Close Together. And Xr Uppers But You Mite Need Short Lowers. Its Going To Need Real Motor Plates. I Would Also Use Aluminam Head Small Blocks To Save On Weight And Mount The Batteries By The Transom Behind The Stagger To Move Some Of The Weight To The Back. Now for the scoops to me less is more but I do like the rear facing like the fountains had. But not to big. Do a flat hatch with 2 small harwoods glassed in.

Engines:
383 or 427 SBC
Aluminum heads/ Exhaust
500+ hp & 6500redline

Thats the basic idea so far, won't have all the specs or designs done for another 2-3weeks

The drives are coming down to a debate between the XR's and the Imco SC's... Price will probably decide which ones go on the boat... Sportmaster lowers aren't a bad idea, some of the preliminary guess's are a top speed well over 90 so they would help.

Hey Rick, when do you think would be a good time to fly out there and go over the boat? I'll give John a call and get his opinion, just wanted yours as well.
