How much for a Y2K unrigged ??

Thayes,
You said your friend was asking about a 30, without power. Have him check out a Y2K, which is 31' 8", I think JC is only asking 35K foran unrigged hull !!!

Re: How much for a Y2K unrigged ??

I thought the Pricing on the 34' basic hull is like $95K.
I would think the 34 wouldn't be that much more then the 30'

I like the oldschool deck on the 24 and 34, but was never a big fan of the Tempest deck.
Was there a flat deck for the 30? or just the Tempest before and now the double bubble?

It is pretty hard to ignore the pricing on the Y2K.

I'm speding way too much time thinking about one.

Your not alone brother...

I was close to ordering a 30' hull but then I agreed to add onto our house first...

I'm going to have my 24' for a while even though my wife named her "For Now"... :drink:

Check out what someone from BC Canada is selling on ebay, I think JOHN may have a possible law suit using his co name.

Rick, how much more for a unrigged Y2K set up with srtingers for twins ????

FX10 01-16-2006 07:44 PM

Re: How much for a Y2K unrigged ??

It's just a matter of setting up the rear section of the stringers a little differently and adding 2 shorty stringers to the sides. My guess is a few hundred.. We have all the templates for it, so it's not a problem.

Re: How much for a Y2K unrigged ??

Rick- you started to answer my question on the other thread here... If you built a hull with the twin stringers could you still run a single BB? You would just have a hull that was built beefy in the transom/rear area right?

Re: How much for a Y2K unrigged ??

Another thing just popped into my mind, what would all this extra weight do to the ride/handling? Would you need to worry about the CG moving to far forward/back? Will Cohen ever step into the 21st century and get online? Is global warming really a problem and should Superboat be building a 65' for the day we all are underwater?

I would think that a twin engine hull would have a stringer down the middle and the outer stringers farther apart.
To my knowledge, single engine Superboats have 4 stringers to the stern vs. just 2; at least my 24' Super has 4 vs. my 24' Pantera had 2...

Rob,
When we do a stringer setup for a twin smallblock we put one tall stringer right down the center of the hull, and two outer stringers. No way to put a single BB in with a center stringer.
As for the CG, the Y2K rides beautiful with twin smallblocks. Heres a picture of the last Y2K running with twin 6.2, 320HP Mercury smallblocks.

What would happen if you staggered them?

FX10 01-17-2006 07:12 PM

Re: How much for a Y2K unrigged ??

You would loose cockpit room and the back seat.

TeamSaris 01-17-2006 07:16 PM

Re: How much for a Y2K unrigged ??

That would be race only.

What do you mean by " Race only" ??

Sorry to bring back an old thread, but how fast is the twin 6.2 boat? Just curious.

Thanks,

FX10 08-22-2007 09:28 PM

And the best part is the 6 year warrantees !!

Stormrider 08-23-2007 08:28 AM

and no worries about blowin drives.
but... how tight was the fit? could u work on them, if any is even needed?

ls1nova 08-23-2007 09:11 AM

You don't happen to have any pix of the engine bay do you?

Thanks,
Frank

z.zuperboat 08-23-2007 01:32 PM

YUM! twin 500 sbc's w/ xr's.

Superbabi 08-23-2007 05:26 PM

The ideal set up.........staggered 525's

MDGperformance 08-23-2007 06:46 PM

A pair of light weight small blocks (aluminum heads, intakes) making around 500hp would be a nice package, run xr sportmaster shorties(dual engines more trim leverage) would make a cool package.I would have to mount the sea water pumps volvo style off the crankshaft,so acsess would be ok.The reason i say this is i have a restored 28 cig in shop now that twins that i have to change impellers on,what a pain in butt.Someone step up and lets build one,the guy with the 28 cig is thinking about a set of 500hp smallblocks this winter, would sound nice around 6000rpm

MOBILEMERCMAN 08-23-2007 06:55 PM

That would be a sweet ride. I raced against the old 30 Superboat MRD in Pt. Pleasant. That boat ran, never got out of shape and would punch through the big seas. The Y2K with some of Dave's motors would be a rocket. Hey, Dave your right someone needs to step up.
Jim

ls1nova 08-23-2007 06:57 PM

My idea is to use 2 LSx 6.0L motors with efi. Would be an easy 450hp each with awsome economy. And I just happen to have a crap load of LS1 stuff laying around :D

Frank

MOBILEMERCMAN 08-23-2007 07:08 PM

Frank, they might not fit. Dave would know better then I.
Jim

Yeah, but it's going to take me a while to go through all the CD's to find them.

Stormrider 08-24-2007 08:42 AM

Can anyone get me 0.1% financing for 30yrs?

Stormrider 08-24-2007 08:43 AM

Seeing how Dave's current konrad boat is working, i'd trust him big time!

I had a 28' Cig with 280HP/350 TRS. That boat was a real PIA to work on. I did get rid of the circ pumps but not the belt driven sea pumps.
I run all of the accessories and serpentine belt set up from my Volvo 7.4Gi on my Merc 502MagMPI. The Volvo setup is much better IMO.
