Best Power on a 21
 

I have a 2.4 Bridgeport now and looking to see what I should repower with. Looking for something reliable but also something thats going to rip.

I have gone on two rides this spring in a boat powered by twin 225 four stroke Yamahas. They are awesome engines! They idle at 600rpm so smoothly, you can barely hear them, and spin to 6000rpm. And let me tell you, I like the roar of a 4 stroke a lot better than the scream of a 2 stroke... :D
They aren't cheap though :rolleyes: and I'm not sure how reliable they are either.
250HP Merc promax is probably the best bang for the $$ and they are reliable... :cool:

i have a 250 yamaha v max for ya...its got 10 hours on it...itll make that 21 run around 78-80 mph and be stone reliable....warranty for a year and a half left on it and it can be extended...if ya have any interest let me know i will give someone a nice deal on it....

I have been looking at the mercury optimax 250xs. Just wondering if that is a good reliable motor. I tried looking for some 250 promax but all I can find are 225 promax and the 300 promax.

i dont think merc makes a 250 pro max...

Dose anyone know how good the merc optimax 250xs are. Really interested in those but know nothing about them.

I suggest you ask over on scream&fly. Lots more outboard guys over there. Most of us run BBCs... :drink:

250xs is extremely reliable, fuel efficient, and powerful... How much setback do you have? give me a call im in the office all day today... (516)378-0105 we have plenty of 250xs... and other motors you may be interested in.

Also right now Mercury has a limited 5 Year Warranty on all optimax motors... and this is a non declining warranty... But it end the 15th
