100 Mph Y2k
So what amount of HP do we need to get the Y2K TO 100 MPH mark ????
|
Re: 100 Mph Y2k
I say 1000hp if boat is to hit it consistently on a Bravo drive. Then the HP loss and drag at the drive will come into play with bigger units to handle the extra torque.

Re: 100 Mph Y2k
I thought Coen did 104 with a MRD 850 in one of the early Y2K's.
|
Re: 100 Mph Y2k
Rick, thats what I'm thinking, Tom has 801 HP at 94 mph, so another 50,100 at the most ????
|
Re: 100 Mph Y2k
In salt water with no gear/gas it could be possible. I would like to see the my boat get there. Next time I'm on the Pacific I'll give it a try. :drink:

Re: 100 Mph Y2k
Real world it looks like 900+ hp with a bravo set up to consistently hit 100mph+... But since theres a new running surface it might take less to get there... Stay tuned!!!

Re: 100 Mph Y2k
We gave built tons of 850 hp whipple motors!!
|
Re: 100 Mph Y2k
Its this catch 22 that everyone ignores... Yeah you may have the horsepower to get there but what is going to happen to that bravo drive that came with the 496 or 525 originally?

Re: 100 Mph Y2k
Rumor has it that the previous owner of PE's boat had it running over 100 with a procharged 500EFI... :D
The engine did not stay together though... |

Re: 100 Mph Y2k
Tom, you still running with the XR ???
|
Re: 100 Mph Y2k
Yep!
|
Re: 100 Mph Y2k
Finding the HP is easy, there are a lot of builders ( motors ). The drive is the issue, looks like the NXT1 ( merc mini 6 ) or the Konrad ( ace ). may be the way to go.

Thinking of the product, not sure yet. Alot of big power in front of XR's out here. Maybe it's the cold water from the Rockies that helps.

Jcap has hit low 90s with around 700HP, so 850 might just be enough... :evilb: |
Re: 100 Mph Y2k
Authority= Mr. John Coen himself... We were talking yesterday about speed and I asked him the million dollar question: how much hp to hit 100mph? He said that the first Y2K bottom w/ 800hp MRD motor in it hit 95 out of the box, no dialing in or anything. He felt 850 was enough to get there and that any more was over-kill.
1000hp= 115mph!!!!! |
Re: 100 Mph Y2k
1000 hp = 115 mph !!!!! that means 100 all day.............................Merc racing does make a 1075 !!!!!
|
Re: 100 Mph Y2k

The Zuperboat Will Never See 100 Again. The Speedmaster/power Robbing Sponge Is Killing Me. We Will See If My New 18 Inch 3 Blade Will Help. Bblades Is Going To Make It Into A Monster Chopper After I Get Some Reference Numbers.
