Paging Pat McPherson

Yo Pat:

I'm hoping to get my boat back in the water this weekend and try the P5-X 23P. But, more importantly, JROMY has a new sweet 33PP with twin 525EFI's and INDY has a 33PP also with slightly less. Wondering when we could all get together for some fun. T-Mone is looking for some fun also. Heard you guys had quite the run to Caludio's a few weeks back. Water was COLD!!! Any plans?

Keep in touch.

Ron

Hi Ron,
I'm pretty much booked for the next couple of weekends but I do plan to be on the water Tuesday nights after work. I can be on the water by 5pm if anyone wants to hook up in the CT River or the Sound off Old Saybrook.
The next weekend I have booked off for boating is June 24th. It is supposed to be Superfest down on the south shore of Long Island but the Races in NJ seem to be the bigger draw. I would not mind making a run to Claudio's in Greenport or the Pavilion in Old Lyme on the 24th... :drink:

Hey Ron,
How's your boat running?
I've got a few things planned in July that you may be interested in.

Saturday, July 15th is a Poker-Runs-America run here in the east side of the Sound and out to Block Island. I'll be running at least part of it in an "unofficial" way...

Friday afternoon (4:30pm) July 21st I'm going to take my brother-in-law and two other friends over to Claudio's for their Birthday.

Sunday and Monday July 30,31 we (three boats, 12 or so guys) will venture over to Block Island for our annual "Boyz Trip to Block".

Talk to ya and Happy Boating! :D

Hey T-Mone,
Are you catching this?
I'll be bugging you with a PM and phone call soon... :drink:

Pat:

Sounds like some great things happening. I'll give JROMY a call and T-Mone to see what they are up to. I wouldn't mind making the July 15th run to Block. Never done that and with a single it would be safe with other boaters. On the 30th & 31st, do you go over in the am and come back in the afternoon on the 31st? How long does it take you and how much do you burn at what speed or rpm? I may be coming from Milford, so may have to do a fill-up before I venture over. But it sounds like fun.

talk soon!

The July 15th Poker Run starts in the CT River, then to Greenport LI, then to Block Island RI, then up the Thames River. After all that, there is a party at the Casino...

That is a little too much for my little boat and I don't have much of an interest in going to the Casino this time of year. Not to mention the $700+ entrance fee...

My plan is to run will all the big boats to Greenport and then out to Block Island. Depending on many factors, either stay at Block or return to the CT river...

On July 30th we will leave for Block Island in the early afternoon. We will likely stay at Champlin's marina; there always seems to be room on a Sunday...
Monday July 31st, we will head back from Block late morning. We typically stop at the Pavilion in Old Lyme to listen to the band and check out the scenery on the beach... :D

Block Island is 35-40 miles from the mouth of the CT River. I keep my boat about 10 miles north up the CT River so Block is about 100miles round trip for me.
Depending on the weather/seas, how many boats we travel with, and how many piss breaks we take, the trip takes between 2 and 3 hours one way. I have made the 50 mile trip in under 1-1/2 hours, but that was traveling alone and not stopping.
As for fuel, I will burn between 40 and 45 gal round trip. Cruising speeds will vary greatly depending upon the seas. If the water gets bigger than 3ft, I go slow, 30-35mph @ 2800rpm.
