What's needed for a Y2K to be Factory I legal?
 

While I'm putting together my options list for my (hopefully) future Y2K- I can't help but wonder what is required to be Factory I legal if I want to enter some races next summer?

It's a sealed 496HO engine right? I have no idea what's required...

I did go through the rule book a few weeks ago- but it's VERY general.

I think that P-5 class has a lot less rules.

Did some more research though the rules books. Factory I is a 500EFI or 525 EFI, can't afford that. P5 limited to 28'. P4 production class looks promising. I couldn't believe the entry costs though: $300 per year to register the boat number, $600 entry per race and $200 per crew member. yikes that'll get expensive. Plus I don't like the fact that the decks have to have non-skid all over them.

Oh well, looks like I'll stick with poker runs.

OPA P-5 is 30ft.

If you decide to race, OPA is the only place in the Northeast to race. The fees for OPA are 500.00 one time boat reg fee and 100 for each racing member.
The way most teams split finances is: The race crew "non-owner" of the boat either pays the whole registration and crew fees or a substantial amount of it. Other cost such as hotels, fuel, and travel expenses are split 50/50. Any prize money goes to the boat owner. So as the owner of the boat, you should find someone who wants to race, but also contributes $$$$. There is no "free rides" racing.

Used to have a superboat, now a scarab ( sorry ), saw a nice y2k go by Molly Malones earlier tonight ( last night ), that model Superboat grows on me. I didn't really care for it at first, but that is a hot looking boat. Anybody know whose Superboat that was?
