Re: Bare Hull
I Dont Know All The Details Between Lightspeed And Jc/rick If Any. Lightspeed Has Always Been Honest And Is Entitled To His Opinion !! And Thats All It Is His Opinion !! Face It Their Are Alot Of Great Boat Builders On Long Island Activator/mark-intimidator/herb-kryptonite/kirk-progresion/kevin-superboat/john . Superboat Is Not The Fastest Boat Of The Bunch. Top End Does Not Make It The Best Boat ! And In No Way Is That Putting Superboat Down. Johns Boats Have Way To Many Titles And Trophys To Be Put At The Bottom Of The Pile. They Are Built To Be Fast And To Last. To Me The Best Boat Is One You Can Afford And Enjoy Without Any Worries. Every Boater Is At Different Levels Form A 21 To A 34 And Each Is The Best To Them. I Happen To Like My 30 Very Much And Have Decided Not To Sell. Would I Buy Another Superboat ? Yes Would I Have Lightspeed Rig It ? Yes

What I don't understand is why he would want to hurt Superboats sales. Doesn't he do a fair amount of ringing work at Superboat? We have had a few go-arounds with JCPerf with the whole Activator vs. Superboat thing, but I guess the more Superboat owners buy his products the nicer he has become... But i think Activator is faster:evilb: :evilb: |

Jeff I Also Like Your Threads But Can You Fix The Size Always Too Wide Or Extra Long See You At Superfest.

Our transom to bow is 30'. ;) The Activator was also running a high $$ Herring prop and the Super just a stock Bravo one. Hopefully, the changes you guys made to the bottom with negate the 2mph regardless...:D |
Re: Bare Hull
It wouls be like putting a 525 in one of our 24's and running their 29 (27). I know our 24 does 85+ with a 525. Hear what I'm getting at.
And yes, we're pretty sure we'll see a few MPH with the new bottom. |
Re: Bare Hull
My bud has a 79 24 still looks good and the y2k is on a list of 3 boats I want nexted which should be 08. can't wait for the turbine:D :D :D

Super Air
I am not too sure what you are talking about with reference to Progression's. I have a 29 that runs high 90's.. There are a few Progression's out there running well over 100 too. What are you trying to say?????? I could make mine run over 100 too with a pulley change and some fuel... How fast does your rig run. I would love to hand it to you just for that comment..... |

Re: Bare Hull
Thanks Titan but I never asked you or any other owner of a boat what speeds you think you can run, you got you 2cents in next time read the post before making a comment.

Re: Bare Hull
Titan, I agree with Air Time. I think Super Air was complimenting the progression boats.
Super Air, you could have just said as much instead of flaming back like you do to everyone who does not agree with you. I'm not sure why you even talk to us anyway. We are all so dumb as to believe what our gps units say without finding obscure references on the internet that say we need to twirl around in a field a few time to calibrate the altimiter. That being said, I guess I'm not sure how the altimiter relates to speed in the equation. My point is, I don't understand your agression towards everyone here. If it isn't agression, it sure reads like it to me. we are all here to BS, exchange ideas, and have a good time talking about the hobby we love. If you think we are all so dumb/liars about our speeds, you are entitled to your opinion. It just isn't necessary to tell us over and over again. We get your point. |
Re: Bare Hull
As for a shootout the Kryptonites are going to stomp on everybody. Between Lightspeed and Holden Ill stay home. Just kidding its all about fun.

Re: Bare Hull
z.zuperboat and others,
Long Island builds some of the best boats around.....None of them is a bad choice, but with that said I want a 28-30' that will run 100+ and will take rough water in stride. PLease Help! The 29Kryptonite is faster than a 29Activator? I hear Lightspeed's Kryptonite runs 104ish with close to 850 Hp (JC Perf???). Though I like (love) Lightspeed's boat I would like to go with a mild blower setup which I believe will somewhat extend seat and valvetrain service life. Finally, I can find no information on Kryptonite. What little I here tells me Superboat and Activator are smoother riding in the rough stuff (notice I didn't say better). I had a long hard look at Progression but was not personally thrilled with the looks (no offense to the Progression guys). From what I can see Progression has the best construction of all the Long Island boats. The first hull I considered was Superboat's but to fly with the big dogs (100+Mph) the 9-950Hp required to motivate a Superboat to 100 pretty much rules out Bravo, Imco, Konrad ,etc. A big drive means even more power! In my mind the Superboat has the best looks. Activator told me their 30 will run 100Mph with just over 750Hp? Activator also said they have a 30 running 117Mph with about 1000Hp. True... or Bad Salesmanship (BS)?? I am leaning toward Activator but if I'm headed the wrong way I would love a heads up. I know there is more to boating than speed and I don't intend to cause a pissing match, but I am down to final nitpicking and any help would be greatly appreciated. Pardon my late night party spelling. |
Re: Bare Hull
Kryptonite Has A Web Site You Can Go On That And Find Out Info. There Phone # 631 325 9265 Best With My Boat So Far Is 106 I Chose Not To Go Blower And Single 4 Barrel Is Less Of A Head Ache My Motor Makes 790 HP On ZULS Dyno And Is Very User Friendly No Problems With Valve Train Or Anything Else For That Fact .For The Money I Am Asking You Could Not build This Boat Again.I Have More Into It Than I Am Asking. Its a Good Deal For Anybody Who Wants A True 100+ Boat .I Need To Sell This Boat I Am A Three Boat Onwer I Just Got A 28 Skater And Still Have My Sea Ray No Reasonable Offer Refused

Re: Bare Hull
Guys, my point about MPH is how many of us have been meeting people that say that are in the 60's 70's 80's, 90's 100's and they don't come close - (( many people are true to there word - and don't dream )) I personally run in the 60's and enjoy it - I love the sport, respect the water and I am a family man with my wife & kids we are at Fire Island almost everyweekend. (( But the problem is I still meet guy that say they run in the 70's and low 80's and I continue to pass them - 30 years on the water thats the only thing that annoys me - I enjoy all these forums and I am 100% honest and add my 2 cents sometimes like we all do. )) Please note: I never bashed any boat only drivers of boats. I tie up to Progressions, Activators, Superboats, Searays, Silvertons, I do not discriminate - I love boating, & I love all boats !!

I run upper 70's and I'm proud of that. Not everyone can afford to to purchase 100+ mph boats. Be proud of what you guys have. Whether it be fast or slow - east coast or west coast - new or old...you get the idea. Some people can't even afford to put clothes on their kids back. Don't trash on others because of your insecurities. We are all very fortunate for the toys we have. Just because your boat may go faster than the other guys doen't make you more of a man. So everyone just quit pissing and moaning. Just go out and have fun and be careful. |
Re: Bare Hull
Knotwright, I must agree Superboats are the best looking boats out there, If your in the market, have Rick at Superboat build one for you, your gonna love your Y2K !!!! After 2 years of running mine hard, I would not think twice to order a new one with bigger power, to play in the 100 mph club !!!!

Do you find it wide enough? How are the seats in the rough stuff? Have you had it in Big seas? Sorry about all of the questions. |

Re: Bare Hull
i have been checking prices the sb y2k is the best price of those boats your speaking about, are they made the same way. fred thanks

Re: Bare Hull
Lightspeed,
Sorry for any inacurrate info on your fine boat. In a long conversation with JC Perf your boat came up and I must have confused your motor with other discusions. 106 Mph is very impressive with 790Hp!:D A 598 probably produces 790 Hp with a much milder cam than I suggested. Had your boat out in the rough stuff? What is it like at high speed in 2-3' chop? Kryptonite's web site is down (has been for a long time). Do they have a new site I am unaware of? I will give them a call. Thanks! |
Re: Bare Hull
I believe the Kryptonite has a 21 dergee deadrise V, not 24 like the Superboat. A boat with a 24 degree V will be much better in the chop/rough stuff.

Re: Bare Hull
I heard that if you cut a 27/29' Kryp off at the step, you get a 21' Superboat...:evilb:

That sounds correct. Without a DEEP V BOTTOM.
I have heard from a couple of sources that the front 21' of the 27/29' Kryp is indeed a splash of a 21' Superboat/Challenger... I guess it was a good place to start...:evilb: |

FX10
"Word !! They originated from our 21'" Are you chitting me? Did they saw the back end off a Baha?:D Whatevever it is it looks good and seems pretty fast. From what you guys are saying it sounds as though Kryptonite builds a hull oriented toward fair weather fast boating? FX-10, Have you put any larger drives on the Y2k? Imco 1000, Konrad, etc. Are these drives any tougher than an XR? |

Re: Bare Hull
Gary I love the Y2ks but in the rough the kryps ride pretty nice. I know from experience.
|
Re: Bare Hull
I Guess You Guys Havent Been Out In A Kryptonite . You Would Be Quite Surprised How Nice The Boat Rides .The Great South Bay Kicks Up Pretty Good And It Flys Right Over The Rough Stuff No Problem .The 24 Degree Bottom Is A Little Less Forgiving In The Real Nasty Stuff But Then You Couldnt Run Wide Open In Either Style Hull .Its Up To Looks Style And Cabins , Power And Drive ,,,Which Then Would Be Up To The Person Buying Any Type Hull Which They Are All Good No Matter Which You Choose//////////////

Re: Bare Hull
Roger that Lightspeed!
Superbabi, Comparing Lightspeed's Kryptonite to a Jet Ski is well......harsh! Lightspeed must have wired your bilge pump backwards or something!:D :D His boat is one smokin' ride that at the very least has my respect. I am willing to bet in a 2-3' chop there wont be a single v for miles behind Lightspeed. Interesting Fact: The record holder for the run from Alaska (I think they start in Ketchikan) to Seattle Washington is a 28 Skater...Not what most would consider a super seaworthy rig! I am leaning toward something a little more heavy water myself....But I have looked that boat over more than a few times! |
