Twin Illmor Y2K

Rick could this be done?
Those motors are quite a bit lighter than Mercs arent they?

Re: Twin Illmor Y2K

i dont think so....can barely squeeze twin small blocks in....now a single Illmor and a konrad or a III drive would be da bomb...

Re: Twin Illmor Y2K

Not sure if they still make the 3 drive. What about a staggard boat?
I remeber a thread a while back about staggaring 525s and weight was the issue I think but Illmors are much lighter.

I think with staggered you lose the back seat. If you want a twin Superboat then the next step up is the 34.

Re: Twin Illmor Y2K

ff, i think the ilmors are like 800lbs each... about 350-450lbs lighter than a 525efi.
btw, i was discussing w/ parnell about a pair of these in a 28 saber w/ konrads... that would be a nice ride.
On the 28-30ft range, the weight would really help the balance.

but i think 7ft beam will be a tough squeeze, and a stagger in short boat would really limit the cockpit space... if you care about that. ;)

Or twin Whippled 6.2 @475-500hp. Damn !!!

Re: Twin Illmor Y2K

Johnny, I did go through the twin staggered ( 496, 525, ETC ) set up with JC and Rick, anything can be done, look at the turbine. The real issue becomes the new onwer absorbs all the retooling and design costs, as this would be the first one being built. A great idea, even with just 496 HO's you would perhaps see 100 mph !!!!! :D :evilb: :evilb: :evilb: ..................hmmmmm, perhaps my next Y2K !!!!!

Re: Twin Illmor Y2K

If they can get 750hp out of a naturally aspirated SBC for nascar, with a whipple you could get 550-600 easily and reliably. Fuel Injected of course.:D

Guys 84 With Twinn Stock Merc Small Blocks Is Great ! 84 Mph At Probably 4800 Rpm. From What I Remember The Drives Where Very Deep. Through In A Pair Of Shorty Lowers And Some Props It Mite Pickup A Few More. Now Through In A Pair Of Whipples , Naaaa. Im Old School How About A Pair Of Zul Small Blocks Reving 7000 Rpm All Day. 5000 Rpm Is Boring Sounds Like A School Bus Up Hill. 7000 Will Be Like Being At A Nascar Race.
