Y2k/hp

Ok, whats it gonna take to push the Y2K into the 100mph mark HP wise???? Onthe older bottom I'm thinking 850-900 hp.

FASTERDAMITT 07-23-2007 05:27 PM

Garry, just build a monster 1200 and see how fast you can go. :evilb:

Tom, 1200 is way to much for me !!!! ha ha lol !!!!

littleMDGperformance 07-23-2007 06:14 PM

With the new bottom 800 HP with a konrad drive will get ya runnin 94. With a bravo that number would probably be closer to 100. With the older bottom your probably right, it would take 850-900 to get it runnin 100, but good luck keeping a bravo back there with 900 HP haha

Hey, I've just had my 28 Arrow rigged (orange boat in Magnum section) I know my 572/875hp is little over the edge for my XR. But drive do you recomend? Cant go with a Konrad since my engine room are to short. You Y2K guys are also talking about to run the single drive left? Why I ask you Superboats is that fact my Arrow-hull is little the same way like the amazing Y2K. Some of my friends use to warning me and say I gona have propprides that will bring me to h@ll.. What you guys says about proprides? Love these Y2K's! Thanks Mange

I think Konrad puts the trans in an extension box so your motor does not have to be moved forward.

If you use the ace setup then yes the motor doest not have to be moved at all. If you do not want to run a box then you have to move the motor forward.

Superbabi 07-24-2007 05:23 AM

Come on Superboaters, what's it gonna take to hit 100. Fasterdamit is running 94 with 800 hp, Don Y2K ???? Pure Energy ???? JCAP ??? Mike, Pat come on you guys got all the fomulas............:D

Gary,
You know Don Y2K ran 100 in his Y2K with a JC Performance motor. I think it's a 825

Ok Ok Its Time !! Gary Take Out The Revlimiter Up The Boost Run Some Good Gas And See What Happens !! To Much Computer Stuff Going On For The Regular Guy Like My Self.
Every Pound Of Boost You Add Should Get You 40-50hp And 2-3 More Mph. Thats How It Worked For Me. The Serpintine Blower Belts Slip When You Start To Spin Them Fast And Make Power.
Then You Will Have Some Idea Of What You Need For Your Boat To Go 100.
Buy a good 871 / intercooler/ pair of 850,s and msd ignition so the computer can go. 800 plus hp !!

Pure Energy 07-24-2007 06:50 AM

I'm happy with high 80s:cool-smiley-011:

I think 950 hp spinning a Konrad should get you over 100

Pat McPherson 07-24-2007 07:14 AM

Well there are a good number of Y2Ks running around with big power but none running 100 consitantly.
My guess is that if you hooked 900HP to your XR you'd see 100 with the right conditions.
If you want to run 100 consitantly then you probably need a little bit more.
There are guys out there running 1000HP with Bravos but I don't think they last more than 20-30hours.
I think Huntington Beach is planning 1000HP hooked to a Konrad. That is going to do it for sure...

Pure Energy 07-24-2007 08:29 AM

With bigger hp comes more maintenance and loss of reliability.

z.zuperboat 07-24-2007 09:19 AM

Come On P.e. You Can Adjust Some Valves Once And A While. Readjust Some Fuel Presure Now And Then.

Gary I Figure Its About 10k To Put You Into The Everyday Mid 90,s Without A Camshaft. Dont Know Your Specs Now. I KIND OF LIKE SPENDING OTHER PEOPLES MONEY !

Well, we touched on this subject a few times while Gary was having his engine rebuilt.
Whipple pulls 750+HP out of a 3.3L charger at 7lbs on the 525EFI.

The smartcraft may have to go though...:signs069:

FASTERDAMITT 07-24-2007 12:22 PM

Just make sure you have your best driving skills hat on if you plan on running a 5000 pound V over 100 often. Especially if you like to drike rum & cokes once in awhile!!!:D

z.zuperboat 07-24-2007 01:17 PM

750,s not enough. We need to take giant steps. What if Gary where to take a blower like the one from the merc 850 twin screw type, intercool that with the cooler from the 700 only 3/4 inch higher and keep the computer and his flat hatch !!

Whipple has a 5L that would probably do it but I think a basically stock GM 502 block will come apart over 750HP...

HuntingtonBeach 07-24-2007 01:59 PM

To make 100mph consistently on the older style bottom you need 950hp w/ bravo. 1000mph with konrad.

Thats my goal to hit 100mph middle of summer lake havasu heat. Theoretically 1000hp gives you a top speed of 114.8mph using Tom's numbers when he hit 94. Subtract the unknowns and 1000hp should get you 105 consistent.

Gary, I would think 900hp would get you there whenever you want as long as that bravo holds up. Do a MM drive or a B1 and build 900hp, be nice to the drive and you'll be flying in the triple digits.

Rob, thats what I was thinking HP wise. The motor never really gave me much thought, as there a lot of great motor builders out there, many who are here on OSO, I do have a couple in mind. As in the other thread the drive is were I am concerned.

MDGperformance 07-24-2007 06:25 PM

950 with bravo,1000 with konrad on old hull. The bravo little chance of reliability, even with modified version may hold up with imco 4by4 for alittle while,b-max might last 40-50hrs.I think the Konrad might have a chance with 1000hp on ay2k hull,6speedmaster to heavy props very pricy, the arneson to many rigging issues on your hull and the end results very questionable. On my new hull i think900-925 would put me there ,although konrads warranty ends at 800 the boat at 94 is plenty fast and reliabilty is much more important to me than afew more mph

Thanks man! I belive my very nxt boat will be a Y2K. Proob we gona splash her (the 28 Arrow) at sat.

TeamSaris 07-25-2007 07:44 AM

Teague and Imco both have drives rated from 900 to 100. But i still like the Konrad.

By the time this thread hits page 50, Superbabi WILL be going 100.:D :signs069:
