Stereo in a 24?

Anyone put a stereo in a 24? If so, have any pics? I've thought about doing one, but can't see what would be a good location to mount the head unit. Any thoughts?

Installed one in my 24 last year. Mounted two 6" waterproof pioneers in the sides and two below the rear seat (didn't intrude into the comparment under the back seat). I ended up placing the head unit up the flat surface above the top access panel in the cabin. Used a wire less remote with okay luck last year. Mounting a waterproof wired remote with display in the dash this year.

I have similar set up to what Bash has, only the light and stereo are reversed in mine

Looks like a good spot for it. I hadn't thought about that space. Any pics of inside to see how the unit is supported? That looks like a winner! Thanks guys!

My stereo is in the dash. Not a great pic, you can just see the top of it. I have 4 6" speakers, 2 in the front and two in the back. I cut some rings out of starboard to put behind them for better support. The rings are through bolted to the cockpit liner, then the speakers are lagged to the rings.

Keep in mind that Bash's boat is an OB, I don't think that speaker location would work that good for an I/O boat. Also, whenever I have to do any work behind the dash, I remove that entire panel. So having the stereo there might make that harder.

That looks good Dave. Any problems with hitting it with your knees in the rough?

No, with the cover closed it only sticks out an inch or two.

I mounted the stereo in my 24 like Dave did.

Jayhawk one more thing to remember. Be aware that there are two tubes glassed down each side of the boat for wiring and controls. I didn't hit the one on the starboard side but had to do some trim on the port side because I didn't think there is one on that side. Also if I remember correctly mine were not the same heights so take a look forward from the engine comparment to avoid having to fit around those.

I'm very familiar with the tubes from installing the hydraulic steering and tearing out the old. My wife and I have gotten proficient at using the fish tape in the Superboat tubes. It should be a fairly easy deal to wire. The other thing I'd be concerned about, is I only have one battery. I suppose I'd need to add a second one for the stereo so as not to drain the starting battery. I hate cutting holes in my boat. I cringed when installing the tab indicators. I had to cut a big hole for that. The stereo and speakers will be even bigger holes!
