Hit 102.5 today!!!!
Not sure it's true but thats what my gps says!!
I just finished grinding the chit out of the nose cone and put on a new prop. I maxed out @ 5500 rpms, but the Whipple was screaming like I never heard before.... we were definately mov'in. Gps read 86 but when we got back to the dock the max speed said 102.5!! I'll take a pic tomorrow. |
Do the math. 5500 ,1.5 ratio, pitch you know your slip . Whats the number. Even close would be good. You would have to be swinging a 33 pitch at 5500 with a 1.5 gear and a slip of 10% to go 102.

Math, formulas, calculations, physics, etc. etc. etc., don't work in my brain!!
Give me a throttle, a good motor, cold air, room to run and I'll show you some numbers!!!!:cool-smiley-027: |
K, 102.5 !!!!! thats flying, how did the Y2K feel at that speed ??? what type of water conditions, flat or chop ???:grinser010:
|
Gary, I can neither confirm nor deny the number on the GPS. The water was flat calm, air and water temps in the high 60s, me and a buddy, 1/2 tank of fuel, 1 12 pack 3/4 full.
How did she handle????? Same as always!!! Flawless! |
PE whats the pitch on the prop ?

30p Hydro, lefty. Prop had been labbed by TU, but not for my boat. Cupping added, reduced diameter to 15", blades thinned , no diffuser ring and some other stuff. I called Julie about it and she said the goal was to reduce stern lift on a 29 Fountain.
For me it took less trim to optimize speed @ various rpm, and made the boat feel less "stuck" to the water. It was a little loose if over trimmed. I could also wiggle the boat with the steering wheel. @4000 rpm I was going 63 mph if you can get any info from those numbers |
