Wow

Had my first ride in a Y2K today, thanks to John (H20scene)!

It was an amazing experience. To give some context, I race formula cars and heli-ski, so I'm no stranger to speed and g-force.

John is an excellent pilot and the conditions were perfect to show off the y2k's hull capabilities.

I had no idea a boat could be that small (feels huge), that fast, that stable, that maneuverable and that solid.

Words can't possibly describe it. Definitely a no-compromise design.

The question remains, is it the right boat for me.

The only solution I can come up with is to buy a y2k and a crappy pontoon party boat to keep the girls happy :drink:

Oh, and another question, is there any way to increase the size of the cockpit fairing so that you don't get totally blinded by wind at 60mph+?

rbarna, glad you enjoyed the Y2K !!! Most guys on this site have had there Y2K's for many years, and still love the ride and style of the boat. I must say I never felt a boat that is 30-32' long is small. Best of luck, perhaps you will become the next Y2K owner !!!!

the clear 1/4 canopy's were larger, but i like the wind in my face

rbarna 08-05-2009 06:38 AM

Ah, yes, that made no sense... I was trying to say that the y2k felt small because it was so mauverable but it felt big because it handeled the wave conditions like they were not even there!

can you retrofit the clear canopy into an existing fiberglass fairing, or is that an option only during construction?

Pure Energy 08-05-2009 09:14 AM

I made windscreens out of acrylic from HD and bolted them to the lip of the canopy. I get no wind in my face, but a nice breeze on top of my head. I used wing nuts so I can put them on and off easily.

And Yes, the Y2K kick a$$!

rbarna 08-05-2009 04:19 PM

Can you post a pic of your wind-screen invention?

Superbabi 08-05-2009 05:05 PM

rbarna, did you price out a new Y2K with John Coen at Superboat ??

rbarna 08-05-2009 07:44 PM

No, I haven't worked with John to price out a new one... I was going to visit the factory but was running late. Perhaps later this week.
