Wow
Had my first ride in a Y2K today, thanks to John (H20scene)!
It was an amazing experience. To give some context, I race formula cars and heli-ski, so I'm no stranger to speed and g-force. John is an excellent pilot and the conditions were perfect to show off the y2k's hull capabilities. I had no idea a boat could be that small (feels huge), that fast, that stable, that maneuverable and that solid. Words can't possibly describe it. Definitely a no-compromise design. The question remains, is it the right boat for me. The only solution I can come up with is to buy a y2k and a crappy pontoon party boat to keep the girls happy :drink: |
Oh, and another question, is there any way to increase the size of the cockpit fairing so that you don't get totally blinded by wind at 60mph+?

the clear 1/4 canopy's were larger, but i like the wind in my face
|
Ah, yes, that made no sense... I was trying to say that the y2k felt small because it was so mauverable but it felt big because it handeled the wave conditions like they were not even there!
|
can you retrofit the clear canopy into an existing fiberglass fairing, or is that an option only during construction?
|
I made windscreens out of acrylic from HD and bolted them to the lip of the canopy. I get no wind in my face, but a nice breeze on top of my head. I used wing nuts so I can put them on and off easily.
And Yes, the Y2K kick a$$! |
Can you post a pic of your wind-screen invention?
|
rbarna, did you price out a new Y2K with John Coen at Superboat ??
|
No, I haven't worked with John to price out a new one... I was going to visit the factory but was running late. Perhaps later this week.
