I had decided to go with a small splash well type set up as opposed to a full transom. The transom was cut assuming motors would be mounted directly to the transom.

This required a height increase of about 2-3 inches above were the lowest part of the transom was on the current models built, (assuming a 20'' mid section on the motors).

JC also decided not to have a notch in the transom, just flat straight across. So in effect, you have as close to a full transom as you can, but still can mount engines directly to the transom if you want, or jack them back if you want, so best of both worlds I guess

The last picture is what the current transom cut out looks like on the current existing model, so imagine it coming up about 3 inches from the bottom part of the notch (that notch is like 6 inches in total)

Wow, that transom looks mean!!!

I also like the fact that you guys raised the transom up some...will be a major difference when you put twins.

The original was way low even with a single...

Yea, I like the way it is coming out. Then there will be a small splash well in front of the transom with a removable insert to tilt the engines up fully if you want

LOL... Rick is the executive producer for SBTV

Boat is definitly moving along! The upside to doing it now is there isnt a big rush, we have time since the season is pretty much over. So I am just enjoying the ride

And it looks like Rick removed the cross members that were put there temporarily to keep the stringers up, and parallel, and leveled....very nice :)

Good nite SBTV.

Exactly...the jigs were pulled and now the balsa goes in the remaining parts of the hull, then I think its bulkheads and then gas tank

GEORGE YURICK 10-08-2009 09:09 PM

Balsa Coring going in. Because of the expected performance the boat will do with twins, JC and Rick decided to do double balsa from the transom to the gas tank. And the gas tank itself should be going in next week!

noli 10-09-2009 04:24 PM

Are the gas tanks in da house?

I meant: have they arrived in the factory yet?

I have been told that they will be in next Wed, which should be perfect timing

noli 10-10-2009 08:53 AM

Rick is not laying down one layer but 2 layers of balsa core...JC and crew are building this super strong!

What's the possibility of this going 90+?

I think you're very close, the 30CC is light, and strong and with twins...and labbed props we could see those speeds.

On the outboards, what lowers will you go for...Sport Masters or FM's:

I have to admit Sean, this is one enjoyable build. Your getting one hell of a boat.

Superbabi 10-10-2009 05:39 PM

Rick the build is coming out AWESOME !!!!! Your attention to detail is quite apparent in all your photos !!!!

FX10 10-10-2009 06:03 PM

It's alot like your build Gary. :)

Rick- good to see you today, Sean jr has been repeating all day "go see Rick and play with the chains"....kid gets real focused!

This has been a great experience so far.......seeing a boat built up from scratch has been better then I thought it could be...and my expectations were high.

Literally seeing it go up layer by layer, and having Rick and JC answer every ridiculous question I have has been well worth it already!

Is that woven roving being used to encapsulate the stringers?
