Sorry, I stand to be corrected, sure would be nice if your friend chimed in on the Y2K threads. I would like to know how the boat handled with the 6 SM Drive, what power and how fast.:grinser010:

sorry bud, it's a 5, he didn't want to chance the 6's steering went with full system from helm twin ram, handles as though it were on rails, very near 1000 hp 1330 huber, speed(fast) he's kinda busy right now for any bell ringin!

And the answer is?

So now that it's a #5 and Not a # 6 is a 525 still a power requirement to attain 75-80 mph?

Why a 525, the SM 5 is good for 750 plus hp.

golfmaxgolf 10-10-2009 09:24 PM

not to hijack your thread, But the ? was how much horsepower would it take to move an early y2k w/a # 5 sm to 75- 80 mph? so far the suggestion is a 525 Thanks

My boat has an early Y2K bottom. I converted from a bravo to a #5 added 75hp and lost speed. If the prop shaft height is rite and the prop is the rite diameter my guess would be 650. Mine went 84 with 625 and mine is about 1000lbs under the standard hull weight. You need another 100 hp to compesate for the drag of the trans/drive plus the weight. I know pretty much all the supers around and only 3 with #5 drives and none are Y2K,s

golfmaxgolf 10-11-2009 08:46 AM

That's good info thanks, I had a feeling it may take more due to weight and drag etc... Anyone else comments, ideas? As for the other hmmm! there is 1 atleast!
