Upgrading the Engine a little...

Over the winter we switched from the stock EFI to a carb set up. We're still waiting on some parts, but it has run with the new configuration. Brad at Smith Power Racing gave a nice shot of silver to the intake and stock valve covers to make her look sharp. We're also still waiting on the Smith Power Racing logos for the valve covers.

When he built the engine a few years ago, we hit 501 hp at 5200, but the engine ran out of air and stopped pulling there. We're really hoping to gain an additional 50hp +/-. We're not dynoing, so I'll only be able to tell by what the GPS says!

It looks good though! Much nicer than the stock EFI manifold!

It does look really good... can't wait to hear about the results!

Looking good!
Did you sell off the EFI stuff yet?

Thanks guys! Pat, I sent you a PM.

Pat put the EFI stuff on your JEEP.

Hey Mike,
I drop my boat in the water, turn the key and it starts every time without so much as touching the throttle. Idles at 650 and all I do is change the oil and fill the gas tank. Well that's not quite true; I did change the fuel filter too last Fall.
Knock on wood my 1997 502MPI has over 800hours and we're hoping for another year of happy boating.
By the way, the Jeep is EFI but only throttle body...:grinser010:

Got her back from the shop the other day and finally took a few good pics. Looks good to me! Got to get her in the water now.

Looks great! Any hatch clearance issues? With my 454 Mag and 496 it's REAL close.

Thanks Dave!

I haven't noticed any clearance issues. I think I'm ok because at some point someone actually raised the hatch using some wood and plastic blocking. Even at that the EFI was a little tight!

I had to carve out a little of the coring on the back of the seat to clear the flame arrestor on my 496.
