I'm wondering if anybody knows this boat? I talked to the owner and didn't get a lot of technical detail.

Looks sharp, that's all I know!:drink:

Stormrider 08-11-2010 01:19 PM

Interesting bolsters.
Look like standups, dropped.

Superbabi 08-11-2010 02:06 PM

Dave, thats a Great Looking Y2K, would love to see the seats from a top view looking down. Is it me or do the canpoies look a little lower ??

Hey Gary,

The boat is an 2002. Like I said, the guy didn't give me a lot of detail. He sent a few pics but they appear to be several years old. Who knows if the boat STILL looks that nice.

JIM H 08-11-2010 03:12 PM

I think that boat was sold to a guy from or kept it in Freeport,NY. It had bolsters, They had to split the cabin door so it would clear the seats when it was opened.
If it's the boat i think it is the guy had it for sale a few years ago.

I used to work on the boat years ago. The owners name at that time was Mark.. He always took good care of the boat. It was kept a high and dry marina, always fresh water flushed and covered. The last I seen the boat was probably 2007

Dave M 02-01-2011 09:28 AM

I see this boat is back on CL.

The owner sent me some pics months ago. It looks like it's in decent shape. I didn't get serious about it because I figured it would cost a bit to add all the goodies I wanted.

OCCJoe 02-01-2011 01:43 PM

Superbabi's boat for $35k is twice as good a deal even with no motor . It's a sweet boat even if you dropped a stock 496 in it ..
You could have 40k in a bad a$s boat.......

I agree. Pretty sure the boat on CL was one of the budget builds.

dba900 02-01-2011 02:05 PM

Where is Superbabi's boat listed?

Old thread, but what the hell. How fast would one of these be with 700 hp? How long would the XR last?

Call Superbabi, he can tell you. He did tons of dialing in and testing. I'd guess upper 80's.

600 = 82-84 800=92-94 700, do the math. The XR will last just fine.

Not sure. The price sounded good but I didn't get serious about it for a few reasons. Standard layup, funky seats, no steering, to name a few.

Why not check out Gary's boat? It's got all the good stuff.

JERSEY DEVIL 03-24-2011 02:44 PM

anything wrong with the stanard layup the rest i can deal with overtime

Gary

z.zuperboat 04-03-2011 06:36 AM

If you have a motor then Garys boat is the way to go. The race layup boats are built stronger and liter. The bottoms are blueprinted, Faster boat !! When you go to sell it in 5 years from now people will ask just like you did, is it a standard layup or race. Thats worth some money. Then you have all the extras that add up crazy fast . Garys boat was built and rigged with top of the line everything. Dont spend you summer building and changing . It gets old fast .Spend it boating !!

jimmy_ahlvik 07-18-2011 03:27 PM

How fast do you think this will go with a 496?

Ted G 07-18-2011 04:09 PM

Low to mid 70's with the 496 HO.

Thanks Ted!

Have seen that you have a 500efi for sale, how fast do you think it will go with such an engine?

//Jimmy

Ted G 08-15-2011 04:34 PM

Mine is running a true 75 with a five blade Maximus with the twin of that HP500. It has another couple of mph if I use a Bravo prop but the midrange cruise is not as good. Fastedy was getting 81 from his race boat with a 500 hp, but he has an odd notch in his that likely helped his top speed slightly. (And my boat always has a full cooler) :lolhit:

fastedy 08-17-2011 07:20 AM

and that was with 200lbs under the motor
