24 SuperBoat Transducer?
I want to install a Depth gauge and wanted to know if anyone has had good results of using a "puck style" shoot thru the hull [in the bilge] transducer? I do not want to drill holes, and do not want a transom mount. |
.
I believe the factory does puck style with puck-bed as std practice. Rick? Here are some info: http://www.offshoreonly.com/forums/s...ur-y2k-19.html http://www.offshoreonly.com/forums/1171640-post190.html http://www.offshoreonly.com/forums/1171642-post191.html . |
puck Transducer
Very cool pics and great info , Thanks! I do not recall , but have to look again if there is a "puck bed" in my bilge from the factory[hope so] . I am DEFINETLY too chicken-chit to drill out like the factory didon on the pics of the Y2K. Will have to check bilge area again.

apologies, I didn't mean to say that it comes std on all SBs but since you're not too far away from the factory/shop, why not just bring her in and Rick can cut and glass probably in a day or two. Rick knows exactly how deep to cut. I'd call the shop and make an appt...good to also see what's cooking' in there. Let us know if the red Y2K is done, and if the Blue Y2K is coming along :) . |
I had a transom mounted transducer on my 24, Now, I have a puck style in my 30. Neither work(ed) very well. They work at idle, as soon as you hit the gas....nothing.

Thanks for all the replies/advice. Mounted a angled puck style hummingbird transducer in the bilge . So far it works fine.

I have an Airmar P-76 in my 24 with the angle maxed out at 22 degrees. Have the reservoir filled with mineral oil to take up the airspace, and works well as slow-medium speeds, but it too looses a good read at speed because it's still shooting through the balsa core.
