What kind of budget are you working with ?

Sydwayz 09-25-2012 12:17 PM

1200Hp would put the Y2K around 105mph .

FX10 09-25-2012 09:01 PM

I'd say 1200 would go quite a bit faster then 105. I drove Danny Goodwins Y2K "Reinforcer @100 with a 825 JC Performance motor in it.

OCCJoe 09-25-2012 11:35 PM

Rick I think the difference is the Konrad drive (extra 150lbs ) hanging off the back . I would love to see 100 and if it only took 25 more hp to get there we'll I know how to get that from my motor but I'm at 95mph and I think I need about 150 more for that other 5 mph .

z.zuperboat 09-26-2012 06:35 AM

Some Y2K Bottom boats R faster then others. Just like Props all look the same but some R just faster. 1200hp and a Bravo single engine boat 1 to 2 rides before the grenade goes off. I know a boat that with 1200hp should get you around 110

I do have the latest hull and we know it's faster . My drive is at Konrad rite now getting a full rebuild . I found the drive I would love to put on my boat that would add 5 to 7 mph without touching the motor . I just don't know if I want to spend the money till I know we have a new president .

My 32 Activator with SSM#6 went close to 100mph with the 930hp JC engine.
So I think A 30 Y2K would be a rocket with 1200.

But you guys know's your boats better than I do :)

I have now a 1100hp in my boat but have not pulled her to the limit yet :D
"my" boat..... I had a deposit on it yesterday...... :(

Don 30Y2K 09-26-2012 08:15 PM

Hey Rick it was only 97 mph!

z.zuperboat 09-27-2012 09:29 PM

Some hulls just run out of speed no matter how much power you add. What kind of number are you looking to spend on a boat without a motor ? I know a 30 that ran 99 with a 750 !

Cole-One 09-28-2012 08:55 AM

30-60 for a good hull, but is the SuperBoat the one? I spend 90% of my time on a river....I want a v bottem that can run 110-120 so is it a SuperBoat, Activator or Howard Bullet.

I think a Y2K can easily do 110 with 1200hp . Problem your gonna have is finding an outdrive that will handle a 1200hp single . My Konrad went bang and I don't know if it had a defect or if the 800 hp killed it .
There are a number of surface drives that handle 1200hp ie X Power and a number 6 but there is a question weather a surface drive works well on singles .
The Activators blew Bravo's , X's , XR with Imco's like they were plastic .
Go 24' Superboat and the upgraded Bravo with 1200hp as long as your not whole shoting .

Get a cat for those speeds. Simply put. Y2K is a great boat, ive lost a lot of races to them. 110+ plus in a single engine vee bottom is stupid and dangerous.

Please stop talking common sense 'round here...:helmet:

OCCJoe 09-28-2012 12:56 PM

100% correct on that one ! I know how my boat feels at 95 ! I would like To see triple digits 100-101 range but I have no interest in going 110-115 .

Cole-One 09-28-2012 02:09 PM

Thank you all for the input that's what I was looking for, folks that have tried this already. Any and all input is greatly appreciated, this is going to be a good winter project.

OCCJoe 09-28-2012 03:38 PM

Va is not that far away , Hopefully I'll have my drive back next week . Come on down and I'll take you for a ride .

110-120 in a SuperBoat if you like to chine walk :lolhit: Activator might be about the same i have never rode in one, I hear Howard Bullet is a real fast hull with little HP. 90+mph with a HP525 and thats not bad.

z.zuperboat 09-29-2012 07:01 AM

A small cat should be faster then a V bottom . Try to innsure one LOL. Also their going to have a bravo LOL again. Their harder on drives then V bottoms. Any small V bottom in slop your going to have to drive. I had a 24 that was over 80 ,it was scary in the rough. When I mean small I mean under 35ft. My 30 my son drives sitting on my lap at 70 and hes 8 !! You want the fastest 30 ever built call Rick or John at Superboat and ask them about my Tempest !! See what they think for speed number it should run with a 1200. Since it ran 99 with a 750 But it was a Bravo then. Now its a speedmaster. Alittle slower but bullet proof . Just pulled my dyno sheet and the number was just over 800 at 6000. The best speed to date was 102. Now do the math with the prop slip number . Have to find the program 6000rpm x 1.5 gear x 28pitch x 100mph will give you the prop slip of 6% . Now you know you have a good hul with a good setup !! Send me a PM if your interested with you number. Ill take you for a ride . Boat still in the water for the season. For example My buddie just bought a cobra that was suppose to go 100 with 800hp and so far with his 600 has only seen 75.

Whos been at 110-120 in a V bottom Superboat ? Nobody I know ! Face it theire are conditions for a speed run and a time for just having fun. In a Superboat your going to be out front Both Times. Supers are norrow boats thats why they cut through the rough at any angle. You need the lengh for the boat to stay in the water so you can have control . Out of the water fun but no good, no control. Ive seen the video of OCCJOES boat in a poker run passing 35 top guns in some rough water at over 90 mph. No chine walking there !! Ive had hydrostreams that chine walk at 70. My 24 outlaw with a 600 went 80 and was tough to drive. Took that motor out of that boat and put it in my Tempest and went 85. Like on rails and actually boaring to drive. You have to know your boat the conditions and your own capability. Dont be a toughguy and try to keep up with the pack if your in over your head. Some people are no longer with us today for just that reason .
