What prop is best for a 24 with a 350 MAG
I have a 1999 24 superboat with a 350 Mag mpi and Bravo 1 drive. I've had the boat for a year now and wanted to find out if its set up with the right prop for max performance/speed. Right now there's a 3 blade, 23p mirage plus on it - not sure if that's what originally came with the boat.
Any suggestions - is this a good prop for my set up? |
Does that boat have yellow and blue stripes. if it does is its my old boat. I ran a 24p mirage plus.

yes it does - still running and looking good. needs a few touch ups, the guy i bought it from was a little rough on it. were you the original owner? what top speeds were you seeing from it with the 24p MP? The best i got out of her was low 60's on gps with the 23p MP

I remember hitting 66-68 with low fuel and just me in the boat. I bought it new from superboat. if you look on the superboat website there's a few pictures of it.
Did you buy it from a guy in Northport ? Where do you boat ? |
I bought it from a guy in Commack but i think he was the third owner and bought it from a friend of his in northport. how long did you own it for? I thought that was the boat on superboat website. The superboat lettering across windshield is no longer there but i could see in the sunlight that it was once there. I'm having a few scratches and nicks taken care of now. the bolster seat frames are giving way and i will likely replace those - any suggestions where to go for those? the engine is still solid sounding - has a little over 250 hrs on it now. do you know if that engine is 300 hp or 285hp?
I run it all over the great south bay east of the FI inlet. Do you think going from a 23p to 24p prop would make much of a difference? this is my second boat/superboat. started with a '01 21 milennium that had a 200 merc efi offshore on it - loved it, that boat ran great but wanted a little bigger so sold it last year to get the 24. |

Do you think going from a 23p to 24p prop would make much of a difference? As far as props go, I would recommend a Bravo 1 prop. The 24 I had chine walked all over the place with a Mirage+ and could not stay hooked up in rough water. I switched to a Bravo 1 and never looked back. Cruise speeds where higher and top end was the same. |
You can Update your seats with the New Style 24 Buckets. I think the Y2K buckets are too tall and would look ridiculous in a 24. Give John a call. http://i132.photobucket.com/albums/q...ps2051db8e.jpg

Its a 300 h.p. I had it for about 3 years I loved it. just needed something with more cockpit space. I wanted the sit down seat but was talked out of them, give john at superboats a call 631-226-1761 he can help you out. as far as the prop, id take Dave's advice. I boat in the same area ill look for you
