24' Superboat

Can anyone comment on the build quality of the 24'. I have looked at two of them and when I pressed on the hullsides in certain places I could see the panel flex? Other area seemed solid ( bulkheads maybe), is the boat strong. I have only heard good things about them.

Can't comment on the 24'. You can however, flex the sides on my 21' Legend. It is semi transparent under strong light.

I've got an '01 24 stepbottom and went with the lightweight hull option and a Promax 300X . There is some flex in areas on the hull sides. I dont believe that this is a bad thing. So far I'm quite satisfied with the boats integrity and performance attributes

I have a '98 24 I/O. I too was concerned before buying the boat. There is no coring in the sides on the 24. Mine has almost 400 hours on it and no stress cracks anywhere. I asked John Coen about it and he said that he has been building them that way for years without any hull failures. You can have it built with coring in the sides if you want, but he said it is not needed.

Overall I would say that the build quality is good. When I look at mine at certain angles I can see the pattern of the fiberglass. Like still Crazy said, I too can see light through mine in some places. Superboats seem to be very spartan as far as ammenities. If you are looking for all the bells and whistles some other boats have you may not be satisfied. If you are looking for performance than you came to the right place. There are not many equal size / powered boats that will out run the 24.

Come out to Long Island next weekend and you will see a few.

Hey Pantera24-650HP,

Your rig must be pretty wild with 650HP! I saw your pics, nice boat. I really like Pantera too. Did you buy that in NJ? I think a 500HP in a 24 Superboat would be a great combo. Reliability and 80+ speeds.

500 in a 24' Superboat

Yes, the boat is wild or as I put it...Wicked Fast. I did buy it in NJ. Great price, wonderful boat. I was actually looking at Superboats when I bought this Pantera. I thing the original Superboats were the same molds as Panteras. Both are great rough water boats. Thanks for the compliments on my boat. i'll look up yours, I'm sure its awesome!!! What do you have in it now? Whats your speed vs RPM? I've had mine past 80 at 4,400 RPM. Speedo doesn't go higher...yet. Im getting a 120 MPH GPS speedo tomorrow. Nice talking to you.

I have a 454 Mag MPI (385 HP).

My best has been 75 MPH @ 5100 RPM. That was with a 25 Mirage Plus. I got it "tweaked" to a 26 but have a hard time hitting 5000 now. I have a hard time keeping the three blade hooked up in rough water. I am now running a 26 Bravo 1. Much better handling. I hit 74 @ 5000 with it.
