30CC rear bench seat.

One thing I’d like to add on my 24CC is room for a couple more people. We’d like to be able to take another couple along for runs to dinner and the new microbrewery thats going in at Port Royal.
I’m planing on getting the seat and parts from SB. Turns out the one for the 30CC fits.
The folks at SB had a pic of the filler piece that goes in front of the transom, but not the seat itself. Anybody here have a 30CC with the back bench seat installed so I can see what it looks like?

Consider a couple marine bean bags for the back as well, there may be a plus side to them as you can move them around for chilling out or for "people ballast" or leaving them at the dock...

Thanks! Small world, Rick at SB sent me that pic yesterday via FB. That looks perfect for what we want, plus it dresses up the front face off the transom as well.
I also think the bean bag would work well for some additional seating forward as I want to keep this area open for the times I want to catch some dinner.

That looks simple enough. Easy in/out as well. Problem solved. Ricks the man.

Yep, easy to remove and clean under/around. Also get to the drain plugs in the transom. I’ve got a call into John at SB.

It’s been a game changer on our 30 cc, I am going to install some hand grabs , but other than that, it’s been amazing

Just talked to John at SB. Unfortunately he said the parts won’t fit my 24’ without significant modification. Also I got the impression he really didn’t want to be bothered with shipping it to me.
I’ve built 3 boats, restored several cars and motorcycles and worked on composite aircraft. Think I’m going to go talk to my marine canvas/upholstery guy today. Time for a project.

Sounds like you have some talent. Some starboard, aluminum and a touch of thought and creativity, make it happen... Good luck!

Thanks. I really liked the seat and transom filler piece from SB. Would have made for an easier and quicker project. To be honest I was a little shocked at the response I got when I called. I was told shipping would be $800 for the parts!
I shipped a 10,000# boat lift from SW Florida to my house for $350. Crate was 16’ long, 3’ square and weighed 800#. I’m sure that seat and filler piece could have gone UPS or Fedex.
Like I mentioned above I got the distinct impression they just didn’t want to be bothered with it. I guess they’ve got plenty of business building new boats and don’t need to be bothered with the owner of an old one. Side affect of a good economy.

Reynard38
Did you come up with a back seat solution?

Reynard38 05-24-2020 09:44 PM

I did, though I’ve been so busy with other projects and with the virus we haven’t taken anybody out in the boat anyway despite using it several times a week I haven’t installed them yet.
I bought 2 seats similar to what’s in the boat now along with pedestals. I am about to get my old vintage sailboat out of my shop, then it’ll be time to take the Superboat off the lift, polish, wax and service the engine. While it’s out I’ll Install the seats and see about some sun protection in the form of an arch with sunshade.

I did want to point out that Rick at Superboat was very friendly and helpful when I called. Jon on the other hand..... Well let’s just say I would NOT buy a new boat from him.
