1 Attachment(s)
Well Here she is! I finelly got my hands a 24' Superboat. She's a 1997 model setup with Imco full hydraulic steering and K-planes. Bought her without power so I'm looking for a good deal on a complete Big block package. Hope to join the gathering this Summer.

Good luck! Looks nice and have fun!

Hey Pat nice ride,i just had my boat painted and looks just like yours!!! call richie at mcbetts racing engines and youll be runnin by spring!! he has plenty of stuff around, been building bbchevys for 20 years and afforadble, tell him i sent you.he built me a 598 that makes 680 at 5700 rpm,4 barrel,93 octane, but a 540 would be plenty for a 24,see you at the reunion, watch the posts,we need alot of boats to show up for some fun :D :D :D tripps
|
Hey Patrick,
Nice ride! Are you gonna put some graphics on her? More pics? |
Thanks for the thoughts and contacts. I am trying to working on a deal with a guy that is pulling carb. 502s out of his 38 top gun. They have about 250 hours on them but are in good running condition so I could easily freshen one up. I'll know by the end of next week. As for more color, I plan to put a blue swim plateform on and add something to the sides, maybe just a blue boot stripe. I would also like to add a US flag decal to the bow. Anyone know where I can buy them? I hunted the internet, but I only found some small stickers.
|
check with me in a few weeks, I have a vinyl cutter and plan to set some flaggs ready for the new season.

Hey Eddie,
I am interested in some flags too. Dave M. |
Thanks for the offer Eddie! I did finally find a place that sells larger sizes. I ordered a set 12" x 7.5" from Motorsportsgraphics.com. If they are not of good quality I will bug You for a set like your race boat.
Dave, check the site out. I payed $10 each. I'm getting closer to a deal for a 502. Spoke to the guys mechanic this morning. |
Hi Eddie I would also be interested in a pair of flags for the front of my 30 tempest. Thanks ZUPERBOAT
|
Con-grats Pat on your new ride. Hope you have smooth sailing and rough water to play in.. Hope to see you and the boat at the reunion.
|
Thanks for the thoughts Gassticks. This Reunion everyone is talking about is definitely an event that I need to attend. Are there any dates that have been thrown around? Given enough notice I'll be there. My wife has alot of family on L.I. so she and our little one can hang with someone and I should be able to come up with a partner in crime. I know that avoiding the race schedual will be a priority. I have herd a rumor that JC and his son are going to race F1 this year.
|
Hey pat, bring your family,it will be a beach day,and boating ,and maybe some nite life for those intrested, ill be bring my kids,as i posted last year,i need a desginated driver, maybe, :D :D :D tripps

Hay Tripps,
Our son, Henry is 9 weeks old today. I've been working his neck muscles so that they may be strong enough for boat rides this summer but he's still a bobble head. He'll be 6-7 months come this summer but not quite ready to be my DD. He and my wife could come to the beach if they can get there by car. Maybe next year by boat. I think I saw something about July 26th for the gathering. Can someone confirm? I have a group headed to Block July 27th and 28th. Could be a wild and crazy three days. |
Hey Pat congrats on the baby. My daughter was 4 months when we first took her out on the boat last year. The sound of a big block some how puts them to sleep. As far as I know the 26th it is. But the run to block sounds like fun also .I hear the water is incredible out there. Hows the motor hunt going ,My rule of thumb is only build what the drive can handle. ZUPERBOAT
|
Zuperboat, congrats back at you. We have good friends of ours with a 29' Fountain that puts their two small boys to sleep every time as well. Henry took many trips inside Mom's tummy last summer, but only in the CT river never on the sound.
As for the run to Block, We've been running our "Guys Only Trip" for 6-7 years now. We start about 10 miles inland from the mouth of the CT river then run east inside Fishers Island and then out to Block Island. For the return trip: We run over to Montauk then along the north side of the south fork over to Greenport, then across the Sound back to the River. It is a great trip!!! Our own Porker run. We had 5 boats and 20 guys lasts trip and we're always looking for more takers if anyone would like to join in on the fun. |
super days
Hey pat ,gongrats on the little one, after being thru it twice,my 3 year old used to fall asleep in the sit down bolster,in my 27 magnum, either it was to slow or a great riding boat, the latter i think,we kinda planed that weekend cause of the apba races and the poker runs ,it appeared to be a free weekend for this event. As for your family traveling by car,yes there is a big state park, captree, which has a big ramp, parking, for out oftowners, and some body could be picked up there and most of the action is not far from there. hey,get your boys and plan a big weekend on fire island,it is pretty hot, thats why its called fire island.need a mota ? call richie McBetts racing, thats where zzuperboat and myself reccomends if you dont have anything yet 631 842 9638 got any questions? call me 631 661 8625 tripps

Thanks for the info tripps. I'm going to see three of my friends that I boat with tonight. I'm going to see if we can change the trip we have planned for July 27th, 28th to a weekend in August so that I and maybe another boat can join the Superfest. Looking at a chart last night, I think it will be too much travel to do it all in one weekend. As for an engine, I'm still waiting on a potential deal for my Pantera that would leave me with my 454 from the Pantera that I just rebuilt and a used 502 that I would rebuild for next year. If that deal does not happed in the next week or two, I will put the 454 back into my Pantera for sale and then resume my search for a complete 454 or 502 engine package. I think around 400 horse will give me the 70-75mph I'm looking for.
|
Hey Pat ,
congrats on the boat and the baby ! I hope you didnt forget the shinnecock canel in your planing the trip to SUPERFEST ! And we welcome all boaters , so talk your friends into coming and Im in for the trip to Block Island in August! Maybe we can convince Tripps and Zuperboat to go also! |
Hello, I talked to my boys last night and they have no problem with me changing our weekend for Block so it looks good for me to make SUPERFEST! I am going to check Block Island's Calendar for a good concert. The Spring House and Budweiser have a Summer concert series 4 Sundays so we're going to pick one of those weekends. I'll give an update when we pick a new date.
jcap, I would consider going though Shinnecock if I have another boat come along. It would be a long trip alone. If I'm coming alone I will trailer to LI, you are only 2-1/2 hours and the boat trailers well. Think Spring!!! It may hit 35°F today. |
Hey Pat,i wouldnt mind doin that, but at manny bucks for gas,i might be prone to trailer out and save $ for beer!! are there alot of spaces for boat parking on block? I could be in sag harbor in about 1 hour by trailer+going fast ,make it a 3 day weekend, cause i wouldnt want to tow back at 8 o clock at nite :eureka: after partying all day,any in put? Jay? Pec? ZZ?
tripps |
Hello, tripps you have a vary good idea. Trailering to Sag Harbor would work the best for you to make a run to Block Island. Sag Harbor is about 45min from the CT river so we could meet just about anywere on the way. Our trip to BI is on Sunday returning Monday. There are two potential dates we are looking at. The Spring House is hosting concerts Aug. 3rd and Aug. 17th, the bands are not confirmed as of yet. We normally dock up at Champlins Marina and get at least one room for SSS. We have not ever been turned away, it would be a Sunday night so they will find room. Have a look at www.blockisland.com/champlins/
I am all set for Superfest. |

Well some might think this a little strange. I bought an engine for my boat, Volvo Penta 7.4MPI. Have not sold my Pantera yet, so I had to go with an inexpensive option. Bought it from a mechanic in Virginia with a connection at Volvo Penta. He has some great deals on test engines from the plant. Have a look, I'm sure to take some ribbing for this one.
|
Hey Pat,
looks like you have a good little motor for the Boat. And it runs to . So don't care what others say at least you will be out boating with us at Superfest. See You there. Can't wait till Superfest!!!! Gassticks |
Wheres the carb????? how you gonna put chrome valve covers on that???,,,only kidding, your probally gonna get manny hrs of use with that mill ,good luck :D :D :D tripps
|
Hey I have had great luck with volvo penta engines and drives!
I currently hav a 19 ft u19 with a volvo penta 5.8 and a dp dual prop drive ! good luck!! and hope to see ya at superfest!! |
New Baby & New Baby
Congratulations on your new son !!!
Glad you picked up some power. Now the real question ???? Are you going to be able to outrun that Fountain thats in your family ??? If you need any help installing the motor, I would be happy to lend a wrench. I'm in the book 860 526-9084 Bags / Sheikman |
Well, I could not resist. My Father in-law and I dropped the engine in Saturday afternoon. Only one snag, Volvo front engine mounts and Merc's are vary different. Had to make a mad dash to the local dealer for some Merc. mounts while the engine was hanging. Any way it's in and I will say that the engine is much more accessible in my Superboat than in my Pantera.
To answer your question Bags, I'm not sure but the odds are I will. Gregg is making a few upgrades including Stainless marine exhaust. But his throttle hand does not seem to push as hard as mine. I expect that my Superboat will run between 65 and 70. Hay Bags, are you coming to Superfest? We already have two boats from Chester, how about a third. |
I'm in for the trip to BI also (if I'm around). I live at Shinnecock Bay and can provide escort services for the Mid-Island contingent.
|
Sounds Great! The more boats the better! We can meet you at Plum gut by Orient point or the other side of little gull island in the race. We'll talk at Superfest.
How is you new boat coming along? |
