quick question
I am not in the market for a new boat right now. but would consider a super boat to be in the running when the time comes. I just have a few questions.
1. With the 7ft beam is the boat really tippy while at the dock as compared to an 8ft beam. 2. What kind of speeds do you get with a 30ft with a 500hp? Thank you for your help I think super boats are way cool looking and from what I can tell on this board really handle the rough stuff as well. By the way it would be the 30y2k that the wife and I would be looking at. Mark |
I have not ever been in a 30', but I can say that yes my 24' Superboat is a little more tippy than a 8' wide boat.
I can also say that my 24' Superboat rides better than any 8' wide 24' boat out there, and better than most 8' wide boats under 28'. As for the speed: I think the F1 rigged 30' would run about 80mph with a 500HP. A full cabin version likely 75mph... Good Luck! |
Go to the superboat website and you would be surprised what you will see, they might tip a little but they stop tipping quickly,in otherwords you get used to it fast and its not bad at all, great boats Tripps

One of my friends is around 250 lbs. You can feel the boat move when he moves around when the boat is at rest. I would not consider it to be a problem. I think the only thing that makes me remember that I have a 7' beam is the distance between the front seats. It's a little tight for some larger people.
Superboats are light and fast. I don't think they compromise anything when it come to ride. I never rode in the '30 but the '24 is tough to beat in it's size range. |
Thank you gentleman for your replys. I have been to the web site a few times, You guys do own some really cool boats.
Thank you again Mark |
the 30 has lots pv cockpit space with a molded liner, you can not reach the frontseats when setting in the back seat.
|
There have to be some 30y2k owners on here.
wildchild, Your only going to notice the tippiness when you take me for a ride. :p Brian |
Hey Cain (Brian),
Are you that big? I have a friend that weighs in at around 280. I do use a little more port tab when we go out...:D |

Are you that big? |
Pat, Brian is one of the nicest guys you will meet. Wildchild also, both great boating guys...and their wifes are even nicer :D
|
Brian, I notice tippiness every weekend, but that is not any boats fault.
HP, great to hear from you man. Tell the family Hi from all of us and have a great new years. Mark |

We have got a number of big dogs like Brian on our softball team.
Used to have bigger tipping issues back when I have my 20' Donzi Minx. I would have the biggest sit in the middle of the back seat. K-planes solve the problem these days... Brian, are you still looking for a 24' Pantera? I think the current owner of my old one plans to put it up for sale. He dumped lots of money into it. Full hydraulic steering and a 620HP blower motor. I believe he is a three boat owner at this point. He still has the engine I rebuilt, so I think he would sell it with either. |
FOR BEING NARROW ITS A DRY RIDE AT ANY SPEED .IVE OWNED BOTH A 24 AND NOW A 30 THE ONLY DIFFERENCE IS NOW WITH THE 30 YOU DONT GET OFF THE THROTTLE WHEN YOU SEE ROLLERS.

How difficult is it for a 240+ pound guy to get into the cabin on the 30y2k? Do I need to lube myself up before trying to get into the cabin?
Is it a pretty functional pleasure boat if you want to take some guests out for a ride around the lake? Does anyone know the wieght difference between the production 30y2k and the light wieght hull? Or would it be better to just get the regular hulled boat and put 8500 bucks into the motor? How many of the 30y2k's have been built and does anybody have pictures of them? I have seen fastedys boat, the jesse james, and the yellow and blue striped boat with the blower motor, and the F-1 boat that the Coens raced. any others? Is the engine hatch strong enough to hold several sunbathers without spider cracking? How do your wives feel about the boat? Do they enjoy it? Do they wish it had more options? Anyone use the porta-potti? Can you sleep 4 adults in it? Does anyone have children, and take them out in it? How does it ride? Any porposing at certain speeds? What are the things you enjoy about your boat? What are the things you wish you had gotten as options when it was built? I have got a baby due in March and around June maybe looking more seriously at this boat. So family happiness is key, but then again I want to lay the hammer down every once and a while and air it out. Or maybe I will want to take it down to california and race in performance class sometime in the future. I don't know yet. I do like the looks of the boat and have heard nothing but good things about the boats, and there owners. What are your thoughts? :) |
