Fasteddy !!Is F1 changing to 496's
 

Ed, I heard that Factory 1 was changing from 500's to 496's. Any word ?? If so the Y2K's would be the perfect canidates.

I think they could run HP3s last year.
The HP3 is a 525HP/496. I think Fastedy has one in his boat now...
Do you mean 425HP/496HOs???

Sorry Rick,

I've not checked this section in a couple of days,

It looked like their was hope for F1 again, now I'm not so sure.
Present rules for APBA, Merc 496, Volvo 496, Innovation some version
of the same motor. SBI Merc 496 but you can run an extension Box, they need to
get back to one engine and stick with it, I vote for the Merc 496. And why allow an extension box in F1, how many new boats to you see running around with stock power with a extension box, that just stupid!!!

Its getting back to the same crap that tour the class apart to Begin with, Until they
stop trying to please everyone it's not going to work. Also the weight for APBA is at 4500lbs, thats too light for our boat, last year I had to race at 5200 + pounds now at 4500 wheres the logic, I would like to see the weight increased to 4600 or 4650.

It is official that F1 is going to a 496 package. I believe the package is available through CRE/Innovation Marine in Florida. APBA/SBI will be hosting this class. Check either one of there websites for info or private message me and I can get you hooked up with the right people.

No boat here bajababi. Just know the Y2K pretty well after almost buying one a few years ago. Unfortunately it never happened due to a family illness and later on death. I have crew chief, crewed, and raced with Eddie Simmons and helped out John and John Jr. at the races time an time again. Please tell John if you talked to him I said hello. I talk to Jim H. every so often.

I think it was Aug of 2002 that I actually raced with him. It was the last year that SBI & OPA had there race in August in Pt Pleasant, NJ. It was the year that Reggie showed up with Reggie Jr's F2/SV and David Knights boat as well. I also did some testing with Eddie in 2003 down at the APBA Ft. Lauderdale race. I crew chiefed for him a few times throughout that year as well. Might have been able to race with him a few other times but my work schedule conflicted with those dates. I also had his boat here at my house for a week or so when it was being displayed at the AC Boat Show in the NJPPC Booth. I talk with Fast Eddie about once a month or so. He is planning on coming up here in the next few weeks to hang for a weekend. Keep in touch and I will let you know when that is.

Dpt, Great Photos! I Spoke To Fast Eddie About A Month And A Half Ago. I Was Toying With The Idea Setting Superbabi Up For F1 Racing With 496h0 Since Then I Have Chosen To Go With 525hp And Probably Just Use Her As A Pleasure Boat, But Who Knows????????? Gary
