30" super boat cabin?
does the 30" super boat have a cabin with amenities ? hows the head room ?
|
Re: 30" super boat cabin?
I had the same question for a long time. I had to go see it a few weeks ago for myself. It is basic but the more you have the slower you go. John says he can build it however you want but it comes with two six foot benches and a V berth. Cushions and all still optional. Plenty of headroom.

Re: 30" super boat cabin?
It has a stand up shower, fully equiped galley, porcelon crapper, big screen TV, all standard. :D
NOT! Superboats are for going FAST! If I want to watch TV, I'll stay home. :D |
Re: 30" super boat cabin?

Re: 30" super boat cabin?
Those pics are a finished cabin. Or you can have it unfinished with a white gelcoat finish.

Re: 30" super boat cabin?
If you can fit a cabin in a 30" boat your pretty talented.
And very flexible if you can fit in it when it's done. :D :D Sorry, I know ya ment 30 foot not inches. LOL Cougarman |
Re: 30" super boat cabin?
The cabin is actually pretty roomy

It will have to be considerably taller than the existing molded insert box now part of the 24's. I checked it all out behind the dash...& its all clear of obstruction. I will make the finished model out of aluminum & powder coat it. Joey Imprecia thinks I am nuts saying it can't be done. I think the straighter I am able to get my legs out ( like a 21) the more comfortable ...functional & in control I"ll be. With two hands on the wheel...I will be able to set-up for the big stuff & really manhandle the b-itch. What do you say? |
Re: 30" super boat cabin?
In the foot recess ? I like it. It's always nice to have 2 hands on the wheel when your driving hard.

Re: 30" super boat cabin?
FX10,
I was just picking on him, the title of this thread is 30 inch cabin if you look at the double " after 30. Rather than single ' after 30. Sorry for the bad Humor. :D Cougarman |
Re: 30" super boat cabin?
Hey Rick,
Just gelcoat in mine please... |
Re: 30" super boat cabin?
I'm trying to figure out the hot tub and pool table in mine. LOL
Seriously, I'm about to build in my interior this winter - I plan to put two cabinets against the bulkhead, 14"x 36"tall x width of benches (~26"). To port this cabinet will house stereo, sirius modulator, amp(s), and some stowage. To starboard the cabinet will house 4 pfd's and two impact vests, with stowage for intercom headsets. Going forward I intend to build forward facing lounges between these cabinets and the front bulkhead, maybe mount a removable DVD player on the bulkhead. Add a prota potty and basic v-berth pads and I'm done. I estimate the build will add about 100-150# max. I'll add some lighting with an automatic switch so when the access door is raised, voila - lights on! pimp yo' ride anyone??? LOL |
Re: 30" super boat cabin?
Keith,,,,,,,you Should Have Thought, Sea Ray. Lol Lol !!!!!!!!!
|
Re: 30" super boat cabin?
Sea Ray?! LOL - that'smy other boat...... maybe I'll rethink this and just leave my nice white gel coat - simplicity is always great, I just need to figure a place for loose items and a stereo. Gary - are you adding stereo? Where will it be mounted?

Re: 30" super boat cabin?
Krakmeup and his Once Bitten, have posted GPS speeds of 74.1 mph. He does not have the finished cabin. What sort of weight gain does the finished cabin add to the Y2K, and how much is WOT reduced with a 496 HO? Also, Once Bitten has the 'Old School' layup as opposed to the current Lightweight Race layup with the fully cored hull. How much weight does the fully cored hull add and what mph reduction is that layup likely to create?
Thanks, Ken |
Re: 30" super boat cabin?
Ken,
I'll talk to John on Monday, and get back to you with some weights. I do know that the lightweight hull, which was the standard hull, is hundreds of pounds lighter then the "Old School" layup. in the late 70's to late 80's, the race 30's used to get the "Old School "layup, plus the sides were also balsa cored. Those hulls were literally bulletproof. The Standard lightweight hull cost quite a bit more due to the additional materials (Divinycell Foam coring, Divilette compound, 1708 glass in place of Mat and 24 oz. Roving) and labor involved. I know of a lightweight hull with a 496 out east on the island, he's doing 76mph. Rick |
Re: 30" super boat cabin?
Rick, thanks for your reply. Just to clarify, you are saying that the more expensive lightweight layup, which is fully cored, is also lighter, therefore faster and potentially stronger than the "old school" layup?
Thanks, Ken |
Re: 30" super boat cabin?
The "Old School" layup is plenty strong. But a lightweight fully cored hull is stronger.
|
Re: 30" super boat cabin?
Rick, you were going to ask JC what the additional weight associated with the finished cabin was and how that extra weight would impact WOT. Whenever you get a chance, please let me know.
Thanks, Ken |
Re: 30" super boat cabin?
Ken,
I did ask John about the weight. Sorry I forgot to post it for you. It depends if you want the back rests with upper storage. OK, Here goes. Carpeted cabin with potti-approx: 250 lb extra backrests on midship bunks with storage, carpeted and potti- approx: 350 lbs extra You'll probably only loose 1 to 1.5 mph with the finished cabin Rick |
Re: 30" super boat cabin?
Ken !!
Misprint!!! 150 lbs. approx- carpet and potti 250 lbs. approx- carpet, backrests with upper storage and potti |
Re: 30" super boat cabin?
Rick, essentially, there are 3 options? 1. The cabin pix you posted at the beginning of this thread have the backrests on the midship bunks. 2.The cabin without those backrests have the cushions on the v-berth but just jelcoat on the midship bunks? 3. No cushions on bunks or v-birth, just jelcoat.
Thanks, Ken |
Re: 30" super boat cabin?
Ken,
You can also get the cabin carpeted, without the backrests. |
Re: 30" super boat cabin?
There are are actually 3 Y2K layups. Am I correct FX?
1) The 1000HP Race layup Y2K...i.e. JohnJr. FastEdy JCAP etc. ($$) 2) The Ultra Lightweight Special layup ( EXTRA $$$) 3) The Old Skool "Heavier" layup. ( .0$) |
Re: 30" super boat cabin?
Your right Bash, But I think he was referring to 3 cabin layouts. We even have a sink and cooler for the cabin.

The reason some people think of a "galley" and "head" and want it included is because if the boat is financed the interest can be wrote off as a second home. They are not very specific in what they require. My last boat did not have this but as I look for its replacement I am going to keep this in mind. Cordell |
Re: 30" super boat cabin?
If you want a galley, you got it !!
