502 Rebuild Has Begun
3 Attachment(s)
I picked up my 502 block from the machine shop after work today... :D
The heads should be ready next week. As you can see, I could not wait to get started... Crank shaft is in, but not torqued down yet. I'm hoping this baby will make 550lbs of torque and 450hp. That should be enough to spin the new 28p prop I bought... :evilb: |

Re: 502 Rebuild Has Begun
Nice Pat. I was just doing the same to the Mustang last season. Take your time, there will be a huge grin on your face when you hear that first cylinder fire! :drink:

Re: 502 Rebuild Has Begun
Gary,
My plans are to assemble the 502 this month. Then pull my 454 and make the swap next month. If all goes well, I will fire her up last week of April or the first week of May. |
Re: 502 Rebuild Has Begun
Pat do you have a cam picked out.I have a nice crane hydraulic on the shelf that worked great for me.Remember I went solid roller. Its a merc 575 cam.I believe its the biggest hydraulic before going roller. Its yours if you want it.Has a set of bleed off lifters. In my baja and my zuperboat that cam pulled hard from 3500-5600

Re: 502 Rebuild Has Begun
Thanks Mike!
The engines in a Gen VI roller though. I have decided to rebuild it basically stock and retain the fuel injection. The stock hydraulic roller cam is going back in with a new set of lifters. The only mods. it will get are some head work and Stainless marine exhaust... This engine should still make 100HP more than my 454 does... :D |
