Re: Extension Boxes and Set Backs
Sorry FASTER I missed your question on prop shaft measurement, do we still need it? I can run to the boat and do that easily.....
All these threads to keep up with, wow! Other OSO'ers are talking about how much posting is being done on this site!! Gary - it sounds like you are near a decision, I'm watching patiently to see where you land, as I am considering many types of options for other power next year, good luck! You'll be splashing before you know it!! |
Re: Extension Boxes and Set Backs
Krak, The next time your by the boat I'll take a measurement. Might be interesting.
Thanks Tom |
Re: Extension Boxes and Set Backs
OK- got out to the boat today and did some work.
Best I could measure with the drive down and prop level the prop shaft sits 3.5" below the pad........ |

The prop shaft is about 5" below the V on my boat. I think Dave M. measured 6.5" below on his step/pad 24'. I guess the notched transom on the 30 Y2K allows for the higher X dim. But we know that professor jcap added a 2" spacer which I would assume put the prop 5.5" below... :drink: |
Re: Extension Boxes and Set Backs
Here we go again.
I run my propshaft between 2 1/2" & 3" below. I cant see what it matters if its an O/B or I/O. Any higher I go I lose speed...any lower the steering starts to get "trucky". :) I think KRAK'S setup is right on. :D |
Re: Extension Boxes and Set Backs
Aye, and I like it too.
Happy St Pat's Day!! |

As we have discussed before, My boat is VARY different than yours... If you look at the slip numbers for the way my boat is rigged, it is also pretty good. I know she's slower than yours, but 67mph @ 4600rpm with a 26p looks OK to me... :drink: We'll see how she does with another 100HP... :D |
