Sutphen Performance Boats on the road!
Just heard some great news for those wishing to get up front and personal with some of the best built powerboats in the world. Richie Sutphen JR. of SUTPHEN PERFORMANCE BOATS, plans on taking some of his classically designed powerboats on the road to several events in the northeast. Rich Jr. and his partners, Dan and Steve, custom build the classic 20' and 26' deep-vees in northern New Jersey to each buyers individual tastes and specs. Both boats are available in I/O or O/B and the O/B models are designed with no stinkin’ transom well. The dates are as follows.
May 14 - Ocean City, MD May 21 - Hartford, CT May 28 - Lake George, NY June 10/12 - Yarmoth/Cape Cod, MA June 18 - New York, NY (NYC Poker Run) I plan I checking them out in NYC. Rich Jr. currently has in production an all new 210 Bowrider with a 210 Sport (closed deck) in the plans. The new 21 footers are based on the classic twenty footer hull. Richie Jr. is also one of the top glass men in the business. His shop seems to have a never ending stream of other manufacturers in for fiberglass repair and custom rigging. Check them out. You won’t be disappointed! http://www.sutphenboats.com/ |

Re: Sutphen Performance Boats on the road!
Hi,
That is my sutphen, i bought it a few years back, has a great history, and is a real runner. THe boat was ordered New by a "character" of a man in north NJ and was raced only a few times by one of our great friends on the board, Steve Berk, then she went to Ed Toth, soon after in the early 2000s i bought the boat from a man in Ventnor (sp?) NJ. Not interested in selling, i am having just a blast running the boat this season, and working the buggies out of her. Thank you for all the kind words! Its an army Jeep no doubt! Best Regards, Christian Del Collo |
Re: Sutphen Performance Boats on the road!
I have pic's of the boat when it had a Blue Deck! Ed Toth also owned the Apache "Predator"!

Christian
When I owned that Sutphen I named it the Magic J. Back then it was blue with a blue & white deck, I loved it, great ride ! Looks like the same as it was except for the color. If you ever decide to sell it keep me in mind. My family and I will be in Point Pleasant for the race would love to meet ya Steve Berk aka Lucky Strike |

Re: Sutphen Performance Boats on the road!
I enjoy the boat so much!
Its not a hugely expensive boat to run and i really like doing all the work on the boat myself, it calms me down after a tough work week! Its not to large so i can put the boat in and remove her from the water myself if i wish to run solo, but many of my friends really like going w/me. The ride is awesome! At speed the boat never got out of line. I also enjoy the history of Sutphen, from the early 1900s' to the present, i am a proud "Sut" Owner!! very best Christian Steve can you send me your #? |
