Oil Drain Hose

I have seen oil drain hoses on a Sutphen last summer. They were hooked up to what looked like bilge drains, are these on all Sutphens? If not anybody know where I can buy some?

Re: Oil Drain Hose

easy to make...a couple of hydroloic fittings...some hose...done.

Not the best way to drain all of your oil though. The angles of the hose on the way out the drain plug leaves some remaining.

Head up to Conroe one day and we'll make them.

Do the hoses pull out of the hole, or just attached to a fitting with a plug?

Re: Oil Drain Hose

Mine pull out of the drain hole. When i'm not using them I just roll them and place them under the engines. Do your oil pans have a threaded drain on the sides?

Re: Oil Drain Hose

I have threaded drain on the bottom of the pan. The problem I have is I can't get to the bottom of the bilge to put the hoses thru the bilge drain hole. I have the motors out and just tring to figure out how to do it. Maybe weld some SS wire to the end then to the plug.

HMMMM? Can't help you there...My engines are far enough forward where i can lay down behind them to feed the hoses through the drain hole. I don't believe you will be able to weld any SS wire to your plug. Why do you want the tubes? Have you tried to pump the oil out of the dipstick? Although it doesn't do that good of a job either.

I've been pumping it thru the dip-stick tube, and your right it does not get it all out. And it's messy and a pain in the a**. I just figured it would be easer with oil tubes out the back.

Mercury makes a kit for this.

Re: Oil Drain Hose

I put oil drain hoses on my boat 10 years ago, i got tired of trying to pump it out the dipstick tube. I think the drain hoses will get the most effective oil change. I used s.s. bilge drains with a brass nipple tapped into the back side and a hydraulic hose to a special drain plug on oil pan, it may have been from gil marine. So, to drain the oil simply pull the plug and put a 5 gal. bucket to catch it. I will usually pull the plugs on a sunday after a day of boating, engines are warm it takes an hour or so to drain but i usually leave it overnight to get as much oil as possible. This takes all the work out of an oil change. There is a picture of the transom of my boat in the classified section "31' sutphen spirit"
