Re: My New Sutphen!
dave,
Does it go in the water this weekend? If so we want a Monday morning report. |
Re: My New Sutphen!
Yo Phil!
Gonna be another few days before the water test. Wheel wobbled, as I pulled out of storage on Saturday...jacked it up, and it came off in my hand!! Lug nut backed off spindle (no cotter pin). Currently in shop having all bearings repacked, and lugs secured. Keep ya posted! D911 |
Re: My New Sutphen!
Got her wet today!
A quick little trip to Lake Elsinore CA. Didn't break 3200 rpm...still learning how to manage twins and get used to the tabs, etc. Messy 2 footers in the afternoon, mostly slop from waterski boats everywhere. Drives a little under, tabs a little down, and the new Sutphen ate it up!Overall a great first day on the water! Looking forward to getting down to San Diego harbor for July 4... |
Re: My New Sutphen!
Sutphens.......Eat up the big water !
Wait till you get a few more hrs under your belt, you won't believe what you will be able to do with your boat when it gets rough. Enjoy it !! |

Hey dave!
Did you get some more hours on that beast? I finished up installing my new manifolds and rebuilt carbs. Running her this weekend to fine tune things - wish me luck. Last time out with 21 Rev4's it ran pretty well. |
Re: My New Sutphen!
SP - Looking good!
Yeah, I'm getting some seat time, but it's tough with a 2 month old baby boy in the house! We launched in Huntington Beach a couple weeks ago and cruised up to the Catalina Ski Race in Long Beach CA. That was frickin' awesome! Saw some SICK boats and some TIRED looking skiers! Had 5 dudes (including me) in Airtime, and she handled the seas awesome! Totally comfortable in the 2 and 3 footers. Hoping to head out of Dana Point in SoCal on Sunday. Take 'er easy. Dave911 |
Re: My New Sutphen!
She's now for sale. Damn she was fun! Is this a new record?
There'll be another one in a couple years...D911 |
Re: My New Sutphen!

I got a PM for the X-dimension on the boat, and while I can't think of a way to measure it, I've attached an image with measurement from the bottom center of Gen 1 Alpha in relation to the hull V. Hope this helps.
BTW - Took Airtime out solo yesterday off Dana Point. Threw on a life jacket, and kicked the speed up to about 55-60 mph in 1-3 footers. I've done a few autocrosses and raced street and dirt motorcycles, but the thrill of offshore blows them all away! Gonna be real hard to part with this boat (if I ever do). Dave911 |
The owner says she's for sale. Boats in LA. Not much run time. PM if u want info.
