After talking to Richie, I guess the 32 is the same as the 31 or 30. Anyone here have a 30 or 31?

My throttleman Ernie has a new 32 w/ 850hp does 85 exactly, just built a pair of 1000hp motors, 1 for boat, 1 spare.

i have an 88 31' sutphen spirit,i have had the boat since new,
i love the boat, i had an 86 scarab 30 before the sutphen, there is no comparison, the sutphen is faster, much better and drier ride. the boat is for sale and listed in the oso classifieds. if the boat sells, i will be looking for a used 39. My son has an 87 30' sutphen ocean pacer, they are both sweet boats, the differences between the 30 and31 are minor, but the most significant are #1 the cockpit area is larger on the 31. #2 the windshield is radiused on the 31, flat on the 30.#3 the access to the cabin on the 31 is improved. #4 the access to the engine room is larger on the 31. i dont think there is a better boat out there in this size range than a sutphen, whether it's a 30', a 31', or the newer style 32'.

Had a 1990 31 with 620 KE motors and Bravos. That was a really fun boat. I don't think there is a regular V bottom 32 out there that has a better ride in the rough or the top speed than a Sutphen. Ran them for 20+ years and have never regretted it.

The ride is the balls went in Ernie's boat the day of the cancelled cape race back in 04 we were running between 65 to 75 and it was nice no rattles the jumping out of the water the landing were nice no hard ones, and I have been in a 31 twins nice also.they get a A= FROM ME:D

Hey Sutphen 31 and 32 owners , what is the best set up in this boat , twins , or a big single ? Not to many singles out there are there ?

They have only made the new 32's with a single so far. You can get it with twins though. Id like to see more new Sutphens out there. They have just fallen off the scene in the last 10 years. They build as good of boat as anyone out there today.

I think if a boat builder wants to sell more boats they need to get some out on the race course & poker run circuit.
Back in the late 70's & early 80's Sutphen ruled the Production classes in the APBA offshore racing. I woud think they sold alot more boats back in the day.

In the "old" days in New england you would see more Sutphen's than Cig's. Some people up here will just not part with them, they love them so much! Just wish the brand was more "visible"!

You aint kidding! There's still a bunch of old Sutphens up here in the north east. I've got a friend that bought a 30 Ocean Pacer new from Offshore Speed & Ski back in 1983. T 370/TRS. It's like brand new, has less than 50 orig hrs! The only time its been outside is when it was in the water. It lives in his toy barn, never been left in the water overnight, never been outside overnight! It really has been in a time capsule although it has not been wet for over 10 years.

I have an '82 ocean pacer. I just got the engines off of the dyno and should have it running this weekend. I was able to take it out a few time before the rebuild and it rides sweet. Mine has surface drives and once you get her on plane you feel it float up. It feels like your riding on air. I haven't had a chance to get her in big water yet but she ran her whole life in the Pacific and ate it up.

I,ve got the old "INFERNO", Man what a ride in 3-4 footer's!! Thinking about racing it this year, OPA. 1977 and still goin' STRONG!

i ran my 33 next to a couple of 32s and couldnt see a nickles difference. i have my trs's way up. she throws big tail all the time and both 32 s had the same power as my 33 and i was faster. to geet on plane, i just put the throttle to 2200 and wait a bit and it slides up dead level. the ony problem is that it is,,run 25 or troll. haha. what the heck,,i run it at 3500 with the primarys wide open jus about all the time. thats when it passes the most gas docks. i like gas stations or the farm fuel i get delivered to the farm better anyway. so, dont pass up an outrageous if you find one. or a 32 either!
