Sutphen Pics-Let's See Em'

Anyone know the owners of Buckshot to see if they can set the record straight on why the boat ended up like that. I've heard some stories that say there was some help in tearing the boat apart that had nothing to do with the water or original build quality.

i think i remember reading that the owner of the boat at that point in time (2004ish) passed away shortly after. nothing having to do with the boat incident. i also recall reading that the accident was caused by stuffing, with no other boats involved. i could be wrong though. i found the pictures at njsportpics.com last year.

We were at the race & when they got the boat back to the marina ( Arnolds ) at Gary Hartmans shop (B&G) they said that they were running fast and went air born very high & landed on the crest of a big wave toward the nose & the nose just snapped off.

my father said the boat handled like **** with the kaama surface drives. it road too flat and spun out a few times. once they converted over to the trs's it was a night and day difference in handling and gained 5-8 mph. excellent rough water boat. when my father raced i think they had one win, and it was in a large wave point race. B class. buckshot was the longest. a corsa boat named fever with twin sbcs dominated back then. again i was pretty young, memory is kinda cloudy...

Panic,
If my memory serves me correctly
"Fever" was a yellow 28' MANTA with a pair of 372 cu.in. buicks. Horse power I believe was around 650- 675 H.P.
Sweet boat.....

I can believe the water did that. I was on my Ski at haddam meadows last year and aguy was making some bonzi runs past the island there with a bout a 100MPH 20 FT boat. He hit a boat wake and destroyed the bow of the boat. Its also stayed afloat. was only one side of the bow though.
Drove it into the launch and put it on the trailer.
It was crazy He said they were only 2 footers too.
Maybe some of the CT guys know who I am talking about. I know this guy goes to the CT river run every year.
But that was a small low profile boat you expect it with that but a big old sutphen I never thought Id see that.

I would think that Buckshot must have had some issues in the past.... I'm just guessing that... I know the front bulkheads were redone for some reason.
