When I was younger, I spent a lot of money on motorcycle racing. I wouldn't trade that money back (or the residual injuries) for the experience. It was an investment, but the pay back was not monetary. Of course, you may just be a lot smarter than I am. That's not too uncommon. |

I think the only way to maintain the value of your investment is not to put it in a boat. I understand your rationale, but with most older boats, even if the boat was free, after the inevitable re-do you will have more in the boat than you can get out of it. The only thing stupider than putting your money in a boat would be dying without going boating.

I can relate with over 200k into my old Top Gun. |
I spoke with the man who bought the Scarab a few times and he was basically prepared to spend whatever it took .I realize i will never get on resale what i buy or put into it but spending (what could easily be) 150-175 grand total on a boat of this age and type was a no go.

Jr. thanks for the info! Always liked that boat and "Pool Whore" and "SDR John" were both hot on it (Hmmm both former Flamingo onwers too, a trend?).

Well My brothers Old 30 is in Miami for sale.
NO extra charge for the holes in the hull.12KEngines were submerged and then the marina didn't winterize one correctly. LOL Its on craigs list. The hull is 100% shot! There is another in New haven but on hartford Cts craigslist with hull/rock damage.2K I guess CT is not conducive to keeping sutphens whole. If C or someone emails me I can post a pic of it when she was mint. |
The fellow selling the red 30 in Miami told me it was damaged by falling off it's trailer. But at that time he was asking 9,000 it.

So few Sutphens appear to be for sale right now. Good times or bad times, most aren't going anywhere. Loyal bunch of owners.
