The timing seems to be rock solid right now . no jumping around. Funny thing is I never actually saw it do that the other mechanic told me about it.
There were a bunch of little mistakes it was wierd to say the least. I guess the reunion just wasn't meant to be for me..

I went through the carbs myself tonight with new gasket set and needle and seats.
Haven't fired it yet but hope fully its all set.
some of the resirculation lines need to be changed etc etc.

I will fire it on the hose in the AM and if it runs OK I am gonna check timing and then throw it in the water after work at portland marina or between the bridges. go for a quick ride and make sure all works as it should under load.

This guy was so reasonable you could have traded him a dinner for the time looking at the boat. lets put it that way.
A really nice guy who needs the money for some health issues too.

I ened up giving him double what he asked for to diagnose it because he was that reasonable and I was sunk with out it.
My wife thought I was nuts, but I felt it was the right thing to do.The work was well worth that amount.

btw, i'm up and running? will know 100% tomorrow...loose ground on starter slave, and poor contact on 50 amp breaker....sounded great today..

Spoke too soon C, I can't get any revs out of that port motor. Only 3000 RPM but it idles good now.LOL
Threw a new stator in today even though the old one tested fine Just to be sure but no change.
This thing I makin me crazy now.
You know its something stupid too.

If you have spark testers make sure your still firing on all 6, it may seem to idle fine and not be on all 6 if your not used to listening to these OBs. Next pull the plugs & see how its burning. You were working on the carbs it coulb be 4 strokeing if the floats are off. If you want call me on my cell 845-641-3322 Ive built alot of outboards and I might be able to get a better feel for everything you been doing if I talked to you.

Jim, I will definately take you up on that. I threw a fuel press gauge on it and it had no fuel press, Spark was good on all 6 and it was jumping almost 9/16 gap so that seems good.

Did some other testing I'll tell you about when I call
