Put the boat in around 6:00pm and ran around the lake for a few hours. The boat ran and felt WAY different from my old Ocean Pacer. Ran good but the loss of the four feet made me realized how choppie the lake really is. I came out of the water four or five times just cruising around at 3500 or so.

I didn't want to push it so I never took her over 4000 RPMs. Pretty good numbers with a 23 pitch three blade prop.

3500............45.1 mph
4000............54.4 mph

I'm thinking when all of the kinks get worked out, and I find the right prop, she will hang around 75?

I'll keep you guys informed as to what happens when I put the new carbs on it and tweek everything else. It should make someone a nice Rum Runner. If anyone is looking for one, PM me your offer. I still need to do some wiring and clean up some cosmetics but so far so good.

Hey that sounds great. glad to here your in the water.

what do you have your small blocks timed at??????????? Im trying to compare what mine should be at as i have twin small blocks also.

What rpm do you think you will be able to get with the hammer down???

All the best .. Len

The engines are advanced at 32 degrees. I'd like it to run about 5500RPMs but i still need to try some different props.

I really had her hangin out today. Still didn't take her over 4200 but the waves were out and the trim was up. That boat really floats out there with the drives up and the tabs down just a touch.

I've got a new carb coming for the port engine so hopefully next weekend I will be able to get some full throttle numbers.

Here are some more crappy camera phone pics. Sorry. nevermind the one of the engine comp didn't work. The transom pic shows the new tail pipes and tie bar assembly.

Here are some more pics.

By the way, Does anyone know how to hook up a damn electric actuator for my engine hatch. I fu(ked with it for about an hour and finally gave up. I think it has to do with the black box with 6 inputs on it but I don't know.

30ctsutphen 07-07-2008 10:51 PM

Sorry I have an out board or I would look for you.

C, can probably tell you he's got the same set up.

Also dave911 had some pretty detailed pics all over the place and vid on youtube of his 26 maybe you can see it in the pics.

Here are some better pics of the boat.

Newly painted bilge with newly rebuilt and repainted engines. All externals on engines are new except exhaust. Exhaust is stainless marine and was pressure checked.

I didn't update the dash, it came like that, but it looks good. Just need some kill switches to fill in hole behind the steering wheel. Wiring guru will be here this week to tie up all of the wiring loose ends like this damn hatch actuater i can't figure out.

30ctsutphen 07-27-2008 09:09 AM

stultz, shes looking great!

What are you asking for it?

I have some buddies interested in performance boats up here.
I'll pass the info along for you.

I got mine back in yesterday and ran it for 2 hrs all seemed to work out well.

I was hoping to see you out C, you were better off not being there the river was full of wood debris, and the sound had some big rollers out there.

Thanks, a lot of the work was done before me. The only thing I've done so far are the engine rebuilds and the bilge painting. Plus I got the whole boat buffed and waxed.

It can be yours real easy!!! Make me an offer and remember that it will cost around $1300-$1500 to get it back to you. If you go on www.uship.com you might even be able to get cheaper shipping. It's a great boat and although I'm looking for a bigger one, I am enjoying how managable and easy this boat is to store, trailer, and use on the water.

wstultz 07-29-2008 11:39 AM

Noyzee,

The guy who delivered this boat lives right by you. He has delivered two boats down here to me and is always making trips back and forth...maybe you two could work out a deal.

i know, im just a little off about twins. i go out in the ocean allot and even with my single in our 26 checkmate when im out in 6-8 footers she is a little heavy in the back. to add the extra im just afraid she wont give me much of a ride.

She was flying pretty level on Sunday. You just have to tab down one notch so when she gets airborne it picks the stern up and flies level.

I'll probably list it when I get back from vacation. I've been trying to save myself all that money of buying a bigger boat by dragging my feet.:readinghelp:

noyzee 07-29-2008 01:43 PM

your killing me here. if it was a single i would have already made you an offer. i love the sound and speed of twins, but the weight and agrivation is killing me.
i know a few guys with smaller twins and every weekend its somthing with one of the motors, atleast with a single id have every other weekend. lol

That is why I left them pretty much stock. My last boat was like that, every weekend, something. This boat has made it 6 trips now with no issues.....$hit, I just jinxed myself.

30ctsutphen 07-29-2008 06:47 PM

OH yeah you did it now total jinx.LOL

Don't worry I knocked on some wood when I wrote that so you wouldn't be further jinxed.

I was hoping to take mine out today but work got in the way.
WTF!
I hate when that happens

letterrip 07-30-2008 09:27 PM

Don't for get the beauty of twins is..... you'll always get home!

I had that boat on GPS, Me & 3 guys 1/2 tank, FULL cooler , @70.2 mph , with those motors.
That was the best I ever recorded & is to me fast for that boat.
And it did not chine walk at all !

I also remember another time at logan airport running through 3-4 footers alongside my buddy's 33 powerplay neck & neck , I could just feel the water underneath getting evenly thumped out by the hull. it sounded good & I will always remember it.

In my opinion the "sut" 26 hull feels & acts like a boat 3 feet longer especially compared to the other boats in the same category.

Stultz... I have some pictures for you of it, in the original form , I will have to scan them in & send them or post em up, let me know....

When the 26 goes.....I think you need a 33'/35" .... it's the best size ! skip on getting another 31.

I'll make ya a good deal......:eureka:

wstultz 07-30-2008 10:29 PM

I appreciate it. I'm having a prop issue right now and am not getting the RPMs I should. If you saw 70.2 with the old power I should be at least 75. You can do either one with the pics, I would love to have them. Why not just skip 33/35 and go straight to 39?:drink:

letterrip 07-31-2008 07:22 AM

39 huh..... Big jump in horsepower & Money to make those go fast. never mind serious drives as well. that's just my outlook.

Do ya have 3 blades on it? it had a set of 26 pitch labbed b-1's on it when it got repo-d from the kid I sold it to . they definitely strpped it out.

4 blades feel better , that's what I liked.
I would try 3 blades, it always had them, even when the original owner had it for over 10 years he ran over 70 with 3's

75 should be no problem at all out of her.

When I find some time I will get alot of sutphen pix up.

Sorry fellas, I've been in a car for three days delivering a boat to Lake Tahoe, CA. I get back Monday afternoon so I will chime in more then.

Thanks for the pics, definitely like the yellow and gray better and the 35 looks sweet.

noyzee 09-04-2008 11:28 AM

Brian, you doing the poker run this weekend?

letterrip 09-04-2008 06:40 PM

Hey .... I wll probably spectate & see all the hardware that shows up , probably run to the first stop & head back.

........of course weather pending.

I do plan to get out on friday afternoon at 2 and hang out a little bit. maybe some people will be out then???

This year, I have only used the boat 6 times all season... only because of time & priority Restraints. I have been finishing the new house & stuff like that.
I guess Growing up has it's trade off's! 5 years ago..... 6 days was more like 60 days!

all worth it of course!

Feel free to throw a line if your out :ernaehrung004:

scottmori 09-04-2008 06:54 PM

i believe they cancelled the run will reschedule it .
scott

noyzee 09-05-2008 09:09 AM

Brian, run was cancled, but we are heading out tonight to mess around a bit after work, so i will keep an eye out.
also, it looks like tomorrow is ok for a little while, so we will shoot out then as well. not sure if we will make it to the beach or just float around at the island. i might just grab my moring at the island incase weather take a bad turn.
hopefully we will see you out there
