Hey Guys:

Morgan and I were at Oneida Lake this past weekend for the Swamp run. We didn't run the boat but we did have a photographer take a few pics for the future. Here are a few glimpses. Hope you like them.

Full Throttle 525 08-06-2008 07:43 AM

Oh...I forgot to mention that we also hired a model. We thought it better than Morgan and I riding around the Lake....wouldn't you all agree!!!

Ron

30ctsutphen 08-06-2008 09:45 AM

Ron, I hope you got better pics than those.

I could take better pics than that on my camera phone.LOL

The boat looks great though.
I am sure it will sell well.

Is it gonna be available with a padded hatch cover as well?
Such a small cockpit would be nice to have the padded cover for when boats get tied up together and people just want to hang out.

I have also been of the opinion that the windshild frame always needed to be a little longer (front to back)or a little shorter in hieght on the smaller boats.

just some input take it for what its worth.

which probably isn't much.LOL

Ron were was the model when we met in Greenport. I can use her on the front of my boat. The boat looks great I can wait to see it in person someday.

The pics are low resolution and won't show well blown up. There are a lot of pics and some we may use for our brochures so I just threw out a few of them.

Actually the race fairing is at a real good height which reduces wind sheer.

We already have thought about the padded hatch and I'll post when we have something definitive.

Morgan and I will be at the Norwalk boat show from the 18th of September through the 21st with this boat and hopefully the 21 SSX. I may have the 21 SS in Milford within the next few weeks and will let you know when exactly.

Nice Ron!! Were staying at the Holiday Inn right at the marina. See you tomorrow!!

Ron one of the pics it looks like it would be difficult to have a swim platform. Is there plan to be able to have on or are you just going for the race only look.

Steve

Maybe some swin steps on either side of the drive?

Full Throttle 525 08-07-2008 12:38 PM

It would be easier to have a platform on either side of the drive or one on each side. The main concern would be the height to clear the drive when fully up.. It can be done but the platform may be high. We would have to take a look into it more to see how it would look. However, anything is possible.

i gotta make it to norwalk this year!

ron, would you make the run to port wash in this 21?

Full Throttle 525 08-07-2008 01:01 PM

Rob.. It would be easier for me to trailer it to port washington and put it in there.

fobes 08-07-2008 03:17 PM

That boat is sweet! Very nice job. I had a 1978 20' a few years ago and the new version appears to be a lot more boat. I like the additional freeboard above the rubrail. Best of luck

LOL, i'm not asking to bring it here.
I'm asking would you run this 21 that far? in that water?
Would you see that as fun, or abusive?

Full Throttle 525 08-07-2008 06:03 PM

Rob:

I probably would put it in in Greenwich or Stamford and then run it. Of course it depends on what the water is like. That would predicate whether it would be fun or abusive or not. For the most part it is really not a big big water boat. Although I used to run my old 20ft SeaRay from Milford to PJ and back and the Sutphen is a much much better boat.

As Pepe would say...do you have cajones??? LOL

30ctsutphen 08-07-2008 07:27 PM

I cant speak for the new 21 but my old 20 was the kind of boat I would take out in the sound on calm days with the boys to beat up our kidneys and have some fun wave jumping, but I wasn't gonna chance taking my 2 year old out there.

It was also fine if it ran OK, but I wouldn't want to have had engine trouble and have the weather change or something like that.
I know its not a clear cut answer but hopefully it will give some Idea of how the boat was in the sound.

The added 2.5 inches of deck hieght, I am sure would go a long way to feeling safer in the boat. The 20 sat very low in the water.
You could put your hand in the water pretty easy over the side of the windshield.
My brother hated the boat.LOL
It was so low it freaked him out after being in a 30 for so long.

30ctsutphen 08-07-2008 07:30 PM

Oh I forgot to mention that it handled like a porshe on the river. Jumped wakes like a jetski and was just a blast to rip up the river in.
The 26 and the 30 are boring on the river IMHO!

If you are looking for a river/ lake and calm sound boat the 20 is a blast.

Stormrider 08-08-2008 10:07 AM

Ron, that is what i figured. ;)

TOASTY 08-08-2008 11:07 AM

will the hatch on the 21 fit a larger boat? the hatch looks trick
please let me know as i am interested in a hatch

30ctsutphen 08-11-2008 05:15 PM

Was the 21 off old Lyme shores this weekend?

Though I saw that paint scheme on the water out there?

Full Throttle 525 08-11-2008 07:28 PM

No...Morgan was in Michigan battling 8 footers with his other boat and I was at the 1000 island Run. I will have the 21 in Milford thursday, Friday and Saturday for those that would like to see it. Call me at 203 671 5138 to make an appointment. On Sunday it will be on Candlewood Lake then back to Middletown.

We will be at the norwalk show in September. Also, we should be in this month's issue of Performance Boat Magazine.

Ron

30ctsutphen 08-11-2008 10:28 PM

Ron you need to hit the CT river with that beast some more.

Thats where the 21 FT buyers are spending time I would think.

CT river run is a must too I would think.

I'll be glad to wheel it on the river for you any time you want.LOL

Full Throttle 525 08-12-2008 07:33 AM

Actually, we tried the river the day of the tri-state Poker run and it was full of debris. As a result we were afraid of damaging the hull so we didn't run much that day. We were expecting to run the CT River Run in the fall though.

30ctsutphen 08-12-2008 09:36 AM

The river has been better laely somewhat clean.LOL

The nasty rain yesterday had the water up over the launch at riverside in hartford so give it at least a couple of days before heading back.

I had to turn around at essex that day of thr poker run it was so nasty with debris.
One of the worst days I have ever seen on the river.
