Great thread.

Anyone know where"Magic Gems" is today? I saw the one pic on page 18, but when my dad's friend owned it in the late 80's it was not white, but rather light blue. It was still called Magic Gems then.

I remembered looking at it back then in Ct., I didn't have enough $$$ back then. It had sold to a guy in the Miami
area back then, and that's were She is still hiding.........
Last time I had seen Her, was at Sundays down in Biscayne
Bay about 1994-95 ... Never to be spotted again, what a shame.

The Race 26 Was A Different Story. It Was Built As A Race Boat For The Lamore Brothers. Unfortunately, They Did Not Tell Their Father. The Boat Sat For A Few Years Before The Father Allowed Them To Race It. Mastry And Allweis[chris Sutphen Is Not His Biggest Fan] OWNED THE BOAT FOR ABOUT 1 YEAR. I BOUGHT FROM THEM. IT WOULD RUN GREAT TO ABOUT 82 MPH AND THEN GET OUT OF CONTROL. Rich Sutphen ,myself Worked On It As F-1 Boat TRying To Get It To Handle With An Extention Box But To No Avail. We Took The Box Off And With Pete Noppers Engine , The Boat Handles Like A Dream.

So your boat is the original Sutphen that was run in Factory 1 when the class first came out???

The F1 boat was the original MASTRY ENGINE boat , the first year of factory racing. With the HP500 engine it would run 82-83 MPH. With the extention box it would chine walk so bad that you would have to slow and reset the boat. Richie Sutphen and I worked on it for 2 weeks.Pat Patel drove and Doug Lewis throttled at Fort Meyers. The comment made to me by Pat. " that boat is evil. " We took the box off, and the boat handles like a dream. It was supposed to be raced this year by Pete Nopper in P5.

Thanks for the info BOXER. This is the boat now. I have seen it at a few races but was unsure if it was the original or not.

Ernie owns it again and is in the process of redoing it.
