26 RR Single O/B question
what is the width of the 26?
i am thinking about he 26rr in the classifed section. how do you guys thinks this compares to a 24 banana? thanks alots guys! |
Both are 8' beam boats. The Sutphen is 25' 6" and the Banana is 23' 11" I believe. Both are well built.
|
Thanks. I'm guessing either way I will be satisfied. I just don't want to get one then be out on it and the one I didn't get blows by me in chop. Just need to decide if I want an 87 rr, 08 banana, or a bare bones '10 banana built.
|
the the RRs have any wood involved in construction? i rear in a brochure that was posted that there is no wood in the hull or deck?
thanks! |
cant go wrong with a 26 rum runner mine was an awsome ride. Loved every minute of owning it.
|
So was there wood used?
how much sag should that hull have from sitting on the trailer for so long? |
If you get the HIN, you can contact Sutphen and they'll tell you who they built the boat for and how it was built.
|
I contacted them. Wood was used and is still used today
thanks! |
SHEEEIIIIITTTT for 12K how can you go wrong!
you cant even buy a good used car for that amount. BTW I have a brand new in the box full mooring cover for a 26 FT OB boat if anyone buys it. Bright Blue and all. want $250 from a sutphen owner it was $500 new after shipping. never even been out of the box |
How much gph would be expected with twin stock yamaha 200s? or a single 300 yamaha? both would be setup on a stainless marine bracket with the best setback for speed and offshore performance.
thanks |
sixmassive, Try a pair of MERC 300X's. I have a pair on a MAGNUM SEDAN - 18" bracket - Sportmaster lowers - 4 blade 24* props - very heavy hull - your Sutphen would be very fast !!! "HIGH LIFE"
|
i would most likely put on Yamaha because of the reliability. we dont have very good service departments in the VI.
not really going to all out speed, more for reliability and seas. trying to figure out what would be a good combo for lower fuel consumption and engine loading. either 2x200s or 2x225 yamahas. thanks |
First i have to get the boat to FL if it is still FS in 2 weeks. I only have a week off, then i have two weeks of classes for an endorsement on my license, then i have another week off before i go offshore for a month.
once the boat is in south fl, it will be in storage until october when i can drop it off to get a bracket and repower, where ever i decide to bring it. any recommendations are welcome. thanks |

I am planning a similar project with a 26RR with twins in South Florida. Looking to do the same thing you're contemplating, replace the GIL brackets and put a stainless on. This single 26 is a good starting point in my opinion and is priced right. Send me a PM if interested in sharing ideas or want to take a look at what the starting point is with this project. More than happy to show you my RR in dry storage so you can get an idea.

That thing looks awesome! I'm offshore working for Bp right now. Pretty much the only reason I haven't bought it yet. Ill be back in 2 weeks and would love to check out your boat. I'll pm you my contact info. I need to find a storage place and somewhere to do some of the rigging.
|
six you should contact the guy who bought my 26 and check it out. Its gonna be in tampa when you get back. Not too far.
You'll fall in love with sutphens. |

I can pop it open and take a pic or something. |
Looks like this cover and its a shark skinand trailerable.
Select the bright blue color and thats what she looks like. http://boatcovers.iboats.com/Semi-Cu...t_id=948691998 It came out to about $500 after shipping. its got the straps with it too. |

I would think low 70's maybe better.
Its hard to say because I dont know the efficiency of a single over twins but twin 200Mercs will get you into the low to mid 70's on that hull so your looking at a little less HP but less weight too. I will wait to do anything with the cover. I was going to post it for sale last night on CL lucky I checked this thread. I hope the survey went well today. |

What was the setup on your old boat? you had twin 300s on a stainless bracket correct? what speeds were you getting outta that setup? |
nah they werent 300's they were 200's built by matt kaiser to probably 250 HP.
ran 78 MPH but I have been told it had run in the eighties when miller owned it or maybe it was when Isles had it. I know it was one of the mass owners. I'll PM you the info |
