installing cleats

So my RR only has 1 cleat on it. on the bow.

I am getting ready to order four 4 1/2" pop up cleats from eddie marine, and am wondering who as installed cleats on their boat, and their regrets in terms of midship cleat placement. (where your midship cleats are, and if you like it)

thanks

Mine has cleats on the top deck of the stern and has eyelets in the back on the transome. I use the eyelets most of the time.

No cleats midship and wouldnt probably want any unless they were pop ups.

Even then I dont think Id use them much.

I installed cleats on all of my Sutphens. That is one negative, not enough cleats. I installed a pop up on the bow and two close to the transom. Then I installed the pop-pin fender tie downs, from Eddie marine, on both sides where I like my fenders to go. Worked great on both of them. It's an easy job but measure 17,345,876 times and cut once.:evilb:

Fender pop pins I need to look those up.

Its easy enough to tie them but why not be trick.

They work great and when they aren't in it just looks like a small through hull fitting.......

I've got 5(?) pop up cleats. The only thing I would do differently in the bow would be to put a housing around the back of the cleat with a tube directing any water that gets past them into the bilge so nothing in the forward storage locker gets wet.

Eddie marine has a kit that goes under the pop up cleat that leads to the bilge

screw that, nothing that allows water into my boat is going on my ride. I spend too much time keeping my hull dry to have something like that on her.

Do the push pin bumper locks let water in too?

Cause I am liking those babies.

Any through hull fitting, cleat, etc. is going to let rain water in your boat if you do not put the plastic piece or the hose underneath it that directs the water into your bilge. I never put the hoses on mine and never saw any water in the cabin. I will try to dig up some pics tonight.
