who has big power in a sutphen?
I never really see any Big power in a sutphen.
Anybody putting out big HP from big CID? I know ernie has some big inches and boost but hes got a single. Usually I see 454's or 500 efis but not much more really. |
What model and how "big" are you looking for?
|
The Lambo powered 39, Bob's 39, Walters 40, the brothers in FL/parnells/tricks staggered 39, Kenny Misch's/Herbs boat in MA, the NJ arneson boat 39, and Millers 40 to name a few big ones with decent power.
|
Bob I am not looking for one its more of just a roll call.
wanted to see what was out there with big power, what the power was and the MPH they were running. I guess I should have been more clear. I am assuming thats danny typing there , whats the CID, HP of those and what MPH they running? |

Lucky no big inch motors though like 632's or 572? was standard type cubes right.
I am talking about 1000 HP big inch blower motors or something to that degree, |

I believe Walters is the fastest Sutphen ever built. He initially had some hack engines in the boat. Ran them for a while and then sent the boat to MRD . The first time he ran the boat ,after MRD, I was with him and I saw 112MPH on the GPS speedo. The boat eventually went to Richie's shop. He got it to run in the 115 range. I believe the engines are in the 850 to 900 HP range. A lot of speed, very dependable, not a lot of HP. I believe they are 540's with injection and chargers. Sorry Jeff, no hair dryers.

You see allot of brand X boats with bug inches and HP running 80's and they talk like there Sheet doesnt stink.LOL You always see sutphens with smaller displacement running similar numbers So I figured lets see what a bigger inch sutphen runs. Basically 20 plus MPH faster than the brand X lead sleds. |

Best my 39 has ever run is right at 100-101. motors were 598 and making 850-875. I don't think many side by sides will run much over that. I would agree Walter's 39 is definetly the quickest. I think the 39 from Ft myers that I believe Parnell bought ran close to 107-108? The Scoundrell probably has the most power out of all of the Sutphens but I am not sure what it will run upstairs. Also it is a 34. Where the Sutphen's seem to do pretty good is running hard across the rogher stuff. At least as compared to similiar sized boats.

A flat bottom Top Gun for comparison with that power runs high 80's maybe low 90's if set up well and TKO will out run that thing in rough water like its standing still!

What do you know about the NJ Arneson boat. I think I saw that a few years back. Shot one hell of a tail. |

Thanks for the info Bob. I waved to him going in the opposite direction under a bridge a few years ago. When he took off on the other side his tail was higher than the bridge. Beautiful boat.
