Can't beat the Black/White color combo Wade. Definitely one of
the nicest looking Sutphens I've seen. Enjoy her when she's
done. Congrats.

Looks Great, Keep up the good work. Sutphens never die, They just get reinvented. Love the paint scheme and the simplicity.

Well, I took her out yesterday and everything worked great. I do have an electrical/fuel pump issue with the port engine though. It kept sneezing on me and wouldn't really run over 3000rpms. Other than that it was a great day and it gave me a chance to really break in the engines as we ran about 2500rpms all day. It was just good to be out on the water in January with it being 79 degrees.

Few More. No numbers yet as I have to figure out this Port engine issue. Shouldn't be too difficult to track down though, hopefully.

Beautiful work, she's better than anything you could buy new.
I love to see people today with imagination and enjoy perfection in their projects. Keep up the great work Wade. Another great boat put in the right hands. Best of luck with her.

Keytime 01-29-2013 05:30 PM

Wow. That's one of the best renovations I've seen, inside and out. Classy! Nice work!

Jolley 01-30-2013 08:01 AM

Thank you for the kind words fellas. Hopefully I can figure out this little glitch this weekend and get you all some numbers.

stillcrazy26 01-31-2013 08:45 AM

Compliment you on the refit ! You took a good thing and made it better. I was one of the "Old" riggers for Richie and he was a very conservative guy. He had his "Classic" Sutphen paint job and graphic name.

Jammin' 01-31-2013 04:37 PM

Beautiful boat! Awesome job. Congratulations!

bwd 02-03-2013 08:03 AM

That is terrific!! I wish I had the patience to do such a great job. BW

wstultz 02-11-2013 09:27 AM

I think they are both issotta brand. Mine was heavy as $hit. It's got to weigh every bit of 15lbs.

wstultz will have it on the market soon...he can't stand to own a perfect boat...he hates getting them wet...poor fellow:evilb:

wstultz 03-03-2013 09:00 AM

Took her out yesterday with an external fuel pressure guage. Think it's the fuel regulator. Going to replace it this morning and take her out again to check. Suck it t-boner. :bunnydance:

wstultz 03-03-2013 07:28 PM

Well, replaced the fuel regulator today in the cool fuel system and, although it helped, it didn't solve the problem. We are pretty sure that there is a kink or crack in the fuel line leading from tank to pump. We were getting 35 lbs of pressure but when we pinched the vacuum hose we got the 43 lbs that is normal for these engines. I'm just going to replace every line and fitting from tank to seperator, to pump. If that doesn't work, I'm stumped. I did idle much better with the new regulator though so it wasn't for nothing.

bwd 03-03-2013 07:43 PM

I seem to remember somewhere around 96,97,98 those mpi's had bad fuel pumps. Just a thought.

wstultz 03-03-2013 07:46 PM

They are '99 models but either way I replaced the pumps already. I will keep you guys informed after I replace all of the lines and fittings from tank to pump. It only takes one crack or kink to jack up the fuel delivery.

jeff32 03-03-2013 08:24 PM

just read the whole tread and what a nice job! I also have a place at home to store toys, with a ''soft floor'' like yours where you painted the boat! I'm really impressed with the quality on pictures at least, of the paint, when you know where it was done... makes me think I could do it at home also !

Really, no flies or mosquitos or whatever in the paint? no dust?

Nice resto!!! don't give up the hard work, just a little problem to solve is quite simple from where you started !!!

Thank you for the compliments. We were very careful to make sure no debris got in the paint during spraying. First we wetted the crushed concrete down, then we rolled out a few rolls of old outdoor carpeting, and we had a ton of circulation going with three large fans. The paint turned out great, perfect, no, but after the clear and wet sand and polish the little blems went away. I am very pleased with the end results.

How long did the boat sit before you purchased Her ?

wstultz 06-24-2013 11:13 AM

Okay fellas. Did the Texas outlaw challenge this weekend and took a little time away from the run to run her out in the gulf. The boat and the wife handled it like a champ. No whining from either. Enjoy...

Sweet video. Looks like you could use some more handles. Anyway boat looks great.

Great boat looked at the pics. What paint and primer system did you use? So many paints out there. Your paint looks great.
