Water pick up question

http://www.offshoreonly.com/forums/a...ck-ups-007.jpg
Is there enough material on the bottom of a 31' for a water channel like the one in the picture

seems a little to deep, shouldn't be more than 1/4" at best.mine are basically flush w/ no groove,,plenty of water and speed.

Do you have a picture of your set up? I was considering running a single pick up to a large strainer and running both motors off that. Any thoughts

Do you have a pickup on both sides? Did you buy the boat set up this way ? Have you run the boat?

I'm looking for advice I have no pick up now.
I see several boats with the channel cut in thought it would work well since it's not really hanging down

Im interested in this as well. I will need to feed my two stage water pump that will feed the motor and the intercooler. I was planning on using the drive water pickup to a large sea strainer and adding a thru hull like in the pic as well. Would the drive p/u and thru hull be too much?

I thought that was a pickup on your boat. I would check with CP marine or Stainless Marine. The pickup doesn!t have to extend too far below the bottom of the boat, depending on the style.

A pick-up doesn't need to be below the bottom that creates drag.....water goes around a corner. pick-up can be above the bottom just a bit and the leading edge can be sharp. It' s not rocket science

At higher speeds, 90mph water is still flowing around a corner? Or is that when the groove in the hull would come into play?

Can you sent me pictures of some different water pickup options you guys use MSGANGWAY. I know it's not super complex to figure out just wanted to have a little Winter Sutphen conversation on what people are running! my imco drives are cooling the drives only so I'll have to cool the motors!
