26 Rum Runner Speeds?
 

Thanks for the welcome. Anybody know what type of twin outboard power it takes to get a 26 into the low 80's? How about into the low 90's (that ought to be enough)? I think 200's are good for low 70's...

Can anyone talk me out of twin outboards? I like the additional setback to make the boat ride like it's longer, plus the additional cockpit room...although I'll likley miss the V8 rumble. Probably a bit lighter to tow around also with OB power?

Dave: a friend of mine had a 26' with a single running 800+ h.p. if I remember right and a modified Bravo and it would do 96 mph. "Sutphen 30" would know even more about it as he knows this gentleman better than I. The twin outboard idea is nice for redundancy and you really cannot beat the power to weight ratio of outboards however the twin setup would have more drag than a single so there are trade offs but if you can get it for the right price, go for it, at least there's no arguing about the hull's integrity...matt

Had a 26 with a Stainless Marine 22" bracket, pair of Injected Off Shore 2.5's/280 hp on 20" centers. Boat ran around 87-88. With stock 200's and on 24" centers ran low-mid 70's. Fun boat!
