4781 is NOT a marine carb, that's a basic automotive carb.... the 80466 is, I believe, the only 850 marine carb available from Holley at this time.. i'm becoming a BIG fan of the BG marine demon series over the Holley..

IHTFP 02-01-2009 09:40 AM

Yes, you are right. Basically, what I am looking for is a Marine 850 Double pumper with mechnical secondaries that I can send to Nickerson to be worked. I am building a new engine and don't have any experience with carbs, so I want to have Nickerson do it.

BUIZILLA 02-01-2009 09:48 AM

why can't they furnish a carb?

IHTFP 02-01-2009 09:59 AM

They can, but you pay retail for the carb if they provide it. If they are going to rebuild the carb anyway, I would rather send them one that needs to be rebuilt.

BUIZILLA 02-01-2009 10:08 AM

I have a 4781-2, exactly what your asking for, it worked great but it's disassembled now, but all there including the mech choke pieces, I had it on my 454-425 boat engine for 3 years and less than 50 hours but went with a marine specific BG instead.. $100 plus shipping, if you PayPal me today I can ship UPS tomorrow from 33166

IHTFP 02-01-2009 10:18 AM

Does it have the J-tubes and the marine specific shaft seals? Nickerson told me that he can convert a car carb to a marine carb, but I would just rather provide him with a used marine carb.

BUIZILLA 02-01-2009 10:25 AM

uh no...

IHTFP 02-01-2009 10:42 AM

Thanks

I have one on my Donzi that is either an 800 or an 850....haven't been able to determine a model number. The stamping on the horn is 6R 3767 B and it is a 4150 series for sure and is a marine carb FOR SURE. The previous owner bought it and it was supposedly a blue HP 500 carb that someone had powdercoated black. It's either an 80433, which is an 850 cfm or it's an 80466, which I can't find any info on.

It is working fine, just replaced a power valve on it. The plastic electric choke casing is shattered though, I did that just a couple of days ago. I am replacing it with a 650 because it's just too big for my motor. Mechanical secondaries as well. I am going to be using it through the end of this weekend, but I'd take $100 plus shipping if you're interested? But I would use the numbers I put up above from the airhorn and see what it is exactly. Here's some photos:

I take it you're not interested in my used one so I don't have to keep coming back here? Thanks a lot.....

IHTFP 02-03-2009 07:07 PM

HBO,

If you can confirm it is an 850 I would be interested. Nickerson told me to get an 850 not an 800. If you figure out which one it is, let me know.

Thanks

I have a new take off HP500 carb. (Blue) List #80466
I believe its 800CFM. It has been sitting and would need a kit.

Okay, I'll try some more research and track it down.

AIR TIME 02-04-2009 12:13 PM

what power are you going for, I HAD A 509 SET UP FOR 650HP AND CHANGED MY BG 850 TO A NICKERSON 1050 AND PICKED UP 25HP. ITS ABOUT 600 TO HAVE NICKERSON DO YOUR CARB, I BOUGHT THERES ITS ALL NEW FOR A FEW HUNDRED MORE:rolleyes: THEY CHARGED ME 1350. THE 850 WAS LESS. you are better off buying from them or one of the other builders LIKE DEAN GELLNER AT 216 398 8500 he said a BG MARINE 850 MIGHTY DEMON FOR $632.95 PLUS SHIPPING and a custom carb co. like CFMcarbs are real cool, I bought one of them from Dean after my nickerson was stolen with my drive and a ton of parts.

HBO 02-11-2009 06:48 PM

Mine was an 80466, HP500.......800 cfm. Sorry....but good news it that I did sell it! Good luck in your search.... :ernaehrung004:
