I look at parts that don't come from a dealer as used whether they are new or not and genrally people make offers of 50% off. Maybe that is why you keep getting low ball offers.

Scottw, some people dont look at it like me and you do for some reason. Why would I pay $600 plus shipping for something that I can get from the dealer for $800 shipped? BRAND NEW NEVER OPENED!

Ditto on the 50%. Maybe a little more for NIB, but there is a risk premium in these private transactions and much more than 50% you will get hosed in the long run. Private seller don't typically return items for a different item when you screw up your measurements, etc...... businesses will.

Obviously This wasn't the first "low ball" offer you received? Something is only worth what someone is willing to pay. Its called a market economy and unfortunately its not on your side. Keep it for another month and it will be a year older and worth even less
