gen 6 502 motors
 

I have 2 gen 6 502 motors #10237300 (long blocks) with intakes

motor 1...
removed from boat for inspection, had no known problems
was complete running motor,intake and heads removed.
std bore and no ridge...
approx 250 hr.

motor 2...
had motor noise and found bad rod bearing.
block sent to machine shop.
had heads done and ports cleaned up.
block was hot tanked.
bought 10/10 crank , polished and fluxed.
nothing done to block or rods.
std bore...
approx 275 hr.

these have flat tappet cams, the mechanic removed the engines and told me these should be roller.
I do not really know, all I know is they have flat tappet now and could have rollers in them again.
I could have had the crank turned, but a fellow board member changed his mind and went 540 on his build. That is why the crank was bought.
